I had to postpone graduating last year for health related reasons, so yesterday I graduated from Royal Holloway with my PhD. I would like to take this chance to thank everyone who supported me through this part of my journey.
Because, despite some frankly difficult circumstances - I earned it.
I had a wander around the Melsonby Hoard exhibition at the Yorkshire Museum and it pretty much made my week as well as inspiring some new sketchbook pieces.
I ran across this on Instagram (can't find the account of the original poster / photographer to credit them ) and it made my day a lot better.
I think they call this colour American Flag Blue?

PhD Graduation finally booked! (Deferred from last year so family can be there).
I can't explain why but the title of this job listing made me smile. 'Head of Stonehenge' just has a certain ring to it.

This converted airing cupboard in my temp accomodation became my office. I did my APG upgrade (from MPhil to PhD) in that cupboard. Don't get me wrong it was a step up the homeless ladder (which I would eventually escape late 2020) but... yeah...

Beautiful. These are from All Saints, North Street, a medieval church in York.
While this map is far further back (approximated 345 CE) it does give an indication. Furthermore the idea of a royal fleet isn't new. The confederation which would become the Cinque Ports is generally accepted as beginning during Edward the Confessor's rule.
