Step Six: cut saddle notches so that the stringers sit nice and flat on the sills. Then you can spike it all together with lengths of rebar and a really big hammer

Step Five: drag the stringers into place so that they sit on the sills.

Step Four: Set the sills on either side of the stream. They need to be level and parallel with each other so that the bridge will be square.

A hike along the remote beaches of Ozette on the Washington coast leads the explorer to a series of incredible petroglyphs. Carved hundreds of years ago by the Makah people, they show human faces, cavorting whales, and other images in the rocks. The Makah still live on and care for this land today.
