McLaren Racing is diverting its new-for-2027 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar from its intensive testing programme to show it to fans for the first time globally at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Ayron Senna won a wet 1988 #BritishGP at Silverstone, but the loudest cheers of the day were reserved for Nigel Mansell, who chipped his way through the field to take second. It was less memorable for Alain Prost who retired on the 24th lap moaning his car was handling too badly for him to continue.
The 2022 #AustrianGP, held #OnThisDay at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, saw Charles Leclerc secure victory, overtaking Red Bull’s Max Verstappen three times during the race. Despite a late-race throttle issue, Leclerc managed to hold off Verstappen, finishing 1.532 seconds ahead.
Jim Clark held on to win the 1965 #BritishGP by three seconds from Graham Hill in a BRM, his fourth consecutive victory at the event. He appeared set for an easy win but on the final laps his Lotus began to misfire allowing Hill to eat away at his lead. Ferrari driver John Surtees came in third.

Asked why Red Bull did not change Verstappen's setup, or power unit after qualifying, Laurent Mekies says, "after qualifying, it was clear we were not very happy with the balance of the car, to say the least. And, you know, changing the setup of the car would simply mean starting from the pit lane."
#OnThisDay, Alain Prost won his home race, the 1990 French Grand Prix at the Paul Ricard circuit, but Ivan Capelli, who finished second in his Adrian Newey-designed Leyton House, stole the show. Nigel Mansell had pole position, but Gerhard Berger in the McLaren took the lead into the first corner.
Dan Gurney achieved his and Porsche first world championship victory at the 1962 #FrenchGP. Starting from the third row, Gurney was initially behind Graham Hill, John Surtees, Jim Clark, Bruce McLaren, and Jack Brabham.
