We have arrived at « l’autre île », Miquelon, and had lunch accompanied by a truly excellent award-winning local beer. Definitely much sleepier here than in Saint-Pierre but heading back to “archipelago civilization” on the ferry back at 5. No regrets spending a day here.

Fog lifted this morning, and the view in the first picture was completely different!

We've lived here three summers now, but this is the first time we've done more than just glance at the Atlantic Kite Festival while walking or cycling by. What a treasure it is! (And it made Partner want to learn how to fly a kite.)

There are in fact locations where that kind of unseparated infrastructure can work, but they look like this (very very rural areas with almost no traffic of either type).

A narrow rural road with a “bike lane” on either side of it, in the rural Netherlands. The “bike lanes” are about the same width as the car lane. There’s nothing but paint and a colour distinction separating them, but it’s not a problem because there are neither bikes nor cars around.
