My daughter and I enjoyed a trip to Canada a month ago, and saw the sunrise under clear skies at Moraine Lake. Caught this image from the same viewpoint as yours. Stunning sight.
Bought this fantastic, horrifying read Munro’s Books in Victoria, BC on a recent trip to Canada, after seeing the extent of the devastation around Jasper. A sobering read and one with lessons I thought European nations would need to learn. I didn't think it would come round so quickly. #wildfires

Why is Europe so unprepared? A huge, well-organised effort to prevent any (if possible all) mitigation & preparation hasn’t helped. One largely directed & funded by foreign fossil fuel nations working with what can be described as fifth-columnists who are anxious to make money from their betrayal.
TBH, weather was perfect. Not too hot for hikes, lovely photogenic cloud-shapes, rain falling but not disruptively so, proper clothes. So all brilliant. Also blessed with a brilliant sunrise at Moraine & Louise before the crowds & clouds rolled in. We went on to Jasper - brilliant but still scarred

My Ashy Miner bees are back in the lawn! Delicate grey and black solitary bees that live in tunnels in the soil beneath the grass. Like the gloomy goth cousins of the regular bees.
A visit to the National Portrait Gallery to see the Lucien Freud retrospective. I’d seen a few indifferent reviews but actually a great way to see and chart his evolution as an artist. ‘Girl In A Bed (Caroline Blackwood)’ was one of several highlights for me.
1 Solar farms encourage more wildlife - esp insects - than crops. 2 opponents forget opportunity cost. If farmer earns £x from potatoes, (& subsidised to world market prices?) but £2x from solar, they’ll chose the latter - or dictate what to grow to private landholders? And solar not working? Er...

Sometimes impressive things in a museum is the most humble. I saw flint hand axe in Cambridge Archeology & Anthropology museum that had been knapped around a fossil shell. Palaeolithic aesthetics: a 'primitive' hunter-gatherer had worked to make a fossil shell in the flint a central feature
