Yesterday my son received notice his pending I-130 family petition for his wife & stepdaughter had been APPROVED. Spent 15 minutes weeping for joy, notifying friends & family only to learn it was a "glitch" in the system and an error. Judging from Reddit comments, happened to many, many people. 💔
8 usc 1531 provides for deportation with same exceptions as 1182, which are gigantic and laden with due process and other legal protections/definitions. Habeas corpus is groaning under the weight of all this histrionic bullish*t.
Alt text: First basil pesto and first zukes from the garden over pasta in a pho bowl, because I’m fancy. Before you judge, vegetable gardening can be tough in Denver. Hard freezes in May, 100°F+ a month later!
First of the year — I grind a small jalapeño in with the basil.
In Denver, hit the Park Hill Supermarket www.parkhillmarket.com
Ga-ah! Why does anyone in his orbit put up with this?! It makes them look so boot-lickingly pathetic.
This makes me think of the book Underground Airlines. It was supposed to be a counterfactual ...
What’s that acronym? FAFO? Lucy got beaned by her own football and Ted Cruz R *TEXAS* is indignant. What a whiny-ass baby.
Clint Smith has a great chapter on federal support for The Daughters of the Confederacy and how it's shaped cultural memory of the Civil War
I’m not so erudite, but really enjoying “Unfaithful Music” by Elvis Costello
Gorgeous, wow. Similar in our house, but we began with a chowder from Costco (😬) — added leeks, shrimp, asparagus, tomatoes, bacon, Fresno peppers, and roasted corn
Broncos playing big home game and Denver’s protest was still big and forceful
Caught up with an old friend at the Denver Marade. South HS and the Denver Drum & Bugle Corps represented for beautiful young people. A good day.
Sometimes my Dutch background allows me an extra chuckle
Great insight. This paragraph struck me as maybe not a New Yorker but someone who loves food & being in a city full of great food in diverse neighborhoods. There are a lot of non-partisans/regular people this resonates for.
