Bell-shaped Abutilon flowers…soft peachy-orange with centers of golden yellow …reminding me of a summer party dress. Surrounding by bright green foliage in the shape of maple leaves, thus one of its common names, Flowering Maple. A new addition to the moody garden nook, Dahlia ‘City Lights.’ I perhaps would have named the lavender-pink flowers and deep purple fern-like foliage, Dusky Dream. Surrounded by silver foliage plants and cool-pink Agastache blossoms. .

It’s hard to capture the velvety tones of this dark-petaled petunia. In the garden it is ebony-black, here in the photo, it is deep burgundy-purple. Nestled in what I call the moody garden nook. With silver-leafed foliage and dusky pink Agastache.

I grew Lisianthus for the first time…what a beauty! This variety, ‘Champagne Voyage,’ has layers and layers of ruffled petals in luscious shades of creamy white, with a soft blush of rose. Surrounding the blossom are lime-green buds of flowers yet to come. Unlike me, It is loving the summer heat! An annual in my climate zone.
