The Bicentennial celebration was epic & lasted all summer of 1976. 50 covered calistoga wagons traveled across the country, joining parades as they went, camping at night & cosplaying pioneers. My sister & I got to spend 3 glorious days & nights with the Washington state wagon as it crossed Idaho.

The world is too much sometimes. They say more more more rain is coming. Everybody's talking about it. I don't mind the rain. The hatches have been battened. Pfffffffft.
This is most likely due to a spontaneous bud mutation, because its a Gala and that varietal is known for doing this occasionally, so probably not a true chimera, still cool.
