My last four watched on Letterboxd: RED ROOMS (2023) dir. Pascal Plante, 4 stars; TILBURY (1987) dir. Viðar Víkingsson, 2.5 stars; UGH! A MUSIC WAR (1981) dir. Derek Burbidge, no rating as it’s a concert film with some great acts and some not-so-great acts, but 5 stars for Gary Numan’s moving Davros chair and Klaus Nomi for being Klaus Nomi. Started Harry Dean month on the Criterion Channel, he’s in REPO MAN more than I thought and I was previously put off by the poster, as I wasn’t particularly interested in Emilio Estevez looking all tough in front of a car. Anyway, REPO MAN (1984) dir. Alex Cox, 4 stars, I’m sorry Tarantino stole your whole ‘mysterious locked vessel that glows when opened’ thing.

Pic for reference. All that aside, I don’t really want to see everyone from NOSFERATU again, at least not so soon. For me, it might break the immersion a bit. And maybe just…I dunno, give other actors a chance?

Lily-Rose Depp on the set of WERWULF. She is wearing a costume that looks characteristic of a peasant from the 1300s; a long dress under a big brown dirty coat, a thin belt around her waist, a white cowl around her face with something similar to a nun habit over that. It’s a darker brown than her coat; kinda on the maroon side. It’s clear that they have made her body much larger than it is naturally. They’ve also given her a cleft palate, a congenital disability.

I didn’t say it in the main post because it’s a bit petty and I’m kind of bored of the discourse, but I’d like to see less “nepo babies”. She was great in NOSFERATU, but I don’t want her turning up in every future Eggers project the way her asshole father did in Tim Burton movies. BORING.

Can't believe it's Andrei Rublev day again! Get out your flap hats, look tired and pensive at all times, get tied up by a pagan, and most importantly, rescue a gifted child from his deadbeat dad.

Kate is in a black knitted hood with long flaps hanging down the front that looks like the monk’s headwear in Andrei Tarkovsky's ANDREI RUBLEV. She has unsuccessfully tried to emulate the black snd white colour grading of the film. She looks tired and has dark circles around her eyes due to some recent dark nights of the soul. Her hair is brown, past shoulder length, and she is wearing a white Victorian nightgown. The hat is meant to be tied in the front like a winter bonnet and scarf combo.

I've looked everywhere, but just to be sure, the town in FASTER, PUSSYCAT, KILL! KILL! isn't actually called 'Tittfield', is it? I'm hoping not, otherwise this poster won't be funny anymore.

The German poster for the film we call FASTER PUSSYCAT, KILL! KILL! (1965) dir. Russ Meyer, except in Germany it is called DAS SATANSWEIBER VON TITTFIELD, which loosely translates as: THE SHE-DEVILS OF TITTFIELD. The tagline translates as: "three she-devils who play with love and life".

The poster also features an image of the three lead actresses: Haji, a woman with long black hair wearing a sleeveless white top with a racing stripe across the chest, tight black jeans and black knee-high boots; Lori Williams, a blonde woman with shoulder-length hair that curls up at the ends in a very 60s manner, wearing a white crop top, white hotpants and white gogo boots and Tura Satana, a woman with long black hair and a blunt, black fringe wearing a black top with a plunging neckline, tight black jeans and black boots. I thought David Hockney died years ago. But what do I know? Only yesterday, I learned the guy who created the kid’s show ‘Henry’s Cat’ made dirty cartoons (including one about a talking wang) and that the song ‘All That She Wants’ is, in fact, not about a woman who loves being pregnant.

Though I’m sure Singer would still be a transphobe regardless, a pattern seems to have developed in recent years wherein veteran academics with bruised egos resent new contributions to knowledge as though it renders their own work obsolete.
