Q: "Will Russia sanctions bill be signed within the next week or two, and will you sign it?" Trump: "Lindsey wanted it very badly. There's good chance it gets done. But they'd like to add Iran and Hezbollah to it. That's what I'm hearing."
APPLEBAUM: The front line in Ukraine is barely moving. Russians are suffering from gasoline shortages. Crimea is very close to being cut off. These are concrete Ukraine’s successes that everyone can see. Putin’s last weapon is ballistic missiles. Ukraine needs more air defenses.
APPLEBAUM: Trump seems disappointed in Putin. His assumption that they’d solve war in Ukraine within 24 hours because they were such good friends turned out to be wrong. Everybody’s impressed with what Ukrainians are doing to Russia. Even Trump is impressed or sounds like he is.
Former U.S. Defense Secretary and CIA Director Leon Panetta: Russia is in a very weak position right now, both militarily and economically. NATO has to make it very clear that Russia will not succeed. Russia is not Russia that Putin would like it to be. That is the bottom line.
VOLKER: How long can Russia do this? It's not sustainable. You can't lose more people on battlefield than you can recruit. You can't spend more money than you have. Ukraine is trying to accelerate timeline, to get Russia to the point where they say, "Okay, we have to stop this."
Former U.S. Defense Secretary and CIA Director, Leon Panetta: Putin is a tyrant. Putin cannot be trusted. He will continue to try to jockey for position. Putin is not doing well in war with Ukraine and Russia is paying a very heavy price for his failure in Ukraine.
VOLKER: Remember when Trump said to Zelenskyy in Oval Office, "You don't have any cards"? Well, it wasn't true then, it's certainly visibly not true now. Zelenskyy has advantage over Russia in drones, counter-drones, electronic warfare, defense technology, innovation, logistics.
The Ukrainian Navy has destroyed the Russian patrol ship "Izumrud" near Novorossiysk 🔥 Casualties are reported among the crew 👀 A naval drone was reportedly used.
Near Kharkiv, russian glide bomb struck a residential house, killing a woman‼️ This morning, Russian guided aerial bomb strike destroyed homes in the village of Slatyne, Kharkiv region. 1 woman died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, and another 72-year-old woman was injured.
full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. For families where one parent serves and the other must provide for the household, the absence of childcare is devastating. For a community as large as the Kharkiv region, one kindergarten is, of course, just a drop in the ocean, but it is a start.
First underground kindergarten in Ukraine opens in Kharkiv region. Designed for 260 children, the facility features a bomb shelter capable of housing up to 1,000 people. Children in frontline regions, including Kharkiv, have been cut off from in-person education and daycare since Russia's
Russian missile strike on residential area killed a woman, and Injured another person in Odesa region‼️ She was at her own home...
116 ships of Russia's shadow fleet struck in the Sea of Azov over just 9 days. 11 vessels were hunted down last night alone: 5 tankers, 5 bulk carriers, and 1 tugboat. Unmanned Systems Forces are amazing 👏 🤩
KELLOGG: World has changed. In the future, Ukraine is going to be Sparta of Europe with battle-hardened army of 800,000. They’re very good at what they do, very proud of their nation. Putin thinks he can bomb them into submission. He doesn’t see Ukrainians like I do. He's wrong.
VOLKER: Trump has begun to realize that Putin lies to him all the time. Lies about battlefield situation. Says he wants peace, then kills Ukrainian civilians. Says he wants to negotiate, then refuses to meet with Zelenskyy, and so on. Trump has gotten very frustrated with Putin.
VOLKER: I think Zelenskyy learned a lot about how to deal with Trump. At NATO summit in Ankara, Zelenskyy was disciplined. He didn’t want to talk too much in public. He wanted their private meeting to have positive tone. He joked a little. That is the right way to handle things.
STARMER: I’m really pleased to announce today that the UK will participate in the EU’s €90 billion Ukraine support loan. This agreement will create new route for Ukraine to procure capabilities from UK industry, including ammunition, air defence systems, and long-range missiles.
MACRON: Ukraine will receive licenses to produce SCALP cruise missiles, Aster-30 missiles for SAMP/T air defense system, and AASM Hammer guided aerial bombs. This will allow us to produce these capabilities much more quickly together with our Ukrainian friends on Ukrainian soil.
MACRON: Ukraine will acquire two things from France. Air defense: new-generation SAMP/T systems with missiles, delivery expected in coming weeks. Fighter jets: 16 Rafale aircraft with weapon system, delivery expected in 2028–2029, and training expected to start in coming months.
🇦🇿 President Aliyev: My advice is never to agree to occupation. That’s exactly what Ukraine is doing. Over the past year, we’ve seen pressure on Ukraine from 'certain circles' to consolidate the occupation. But, neither Ukrainian people nor their leadership have agreed to this.
HODGES: IOC is going to let Russia back into Olympics. This is another weaselly, corrupt action by international institutions that normalizes what Russia is doing. There has to be universal, strong, coordinated resistance to idea that Russia is normal nation. That's got to stop.
Ksenia herself and her media as a complete and total Kremlin tool. Yet, does the Western media learn anything from this? Nope. The Economist article with Russian oligarch Andrey Melnichenko shows exactly how much nonsense they are ready to swallow if you wave a chance to write a ✨️sensation✨️
In light of the recent data breach of Ksenia Sobchak’s media empire, Ostorozhno Media, exposing her as working directly with Russian authorities, I want to remind everyone that this ✨️article ✨️ exists. The Kremlin keeps sending stool pigeons to the West, and Western media publishes every piece of
🇦🇿 President Aliyev: Azerbaijan’s position remains unchanged. We have always supported, support, and will continue to support sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and inviolability of its borders. Azerbaijan is always ready to help Ukrainian people in any way we can.
Rep. McCaul: Zelenskyy agreed to a ceasefire. The one who has not agreed is Putin. You don’t get Putin to table by being nice to him, but by putting leverage on him. The more strength we can show on Ukraine’s side, the more pain we can put on Russia, the closer we're to a peace.
Rep. McCaul: Zelenskyy's message at NATO summit was, 'I'm a winner,' and Trump likes winners. He certainly made strong showing of support for President of Ukraine and Ukrainian people. That was right decision. Moral clarity is there, being on right side of history is also there.
