"his" people-law enforcement, biker gangs, coal miners, Ultimate Fighting enthusiasts—against the leftist enemy that inhabits blue America. The centrality of violence to all this is not disguised in the least.
ICE recruitment targets MAGA-adjacent UFC fanbases and people who show an interest in paramilitary tactical equipment or military recruitment. ICE messaging openly glorifies military-style operations in urban areas—that is, in blue America's diverse, cosmopolitan strongholds. Trump talks about Minneapolis as akin to an enemy country populated with undesirables who must be purged by MAGA patriots.

Thank you for your letter.
I'm afraid you have been misinformed about our approach to providing fitting rooms for our customers.
For many years, M&S has in the vast majority of stores provided unisex spaces which have individual cubicles secured with a lock from the inside. A colleague is usually on hand to provide assistance if required. This has not changed as a result of the Supreme Court or High Court rulings you refer to.
Most of our fitting room spaces have long been signposted to customers with a generic 'Fitting Rooms' sign and not, as you wrongly suggest, with individual signage for women or men. The new 'Try On' signage is not a change of policy, it is simply part of a wider store redesign and updates the existing
"Fitting Rooms' signage in stores we are refreshing.

Agent had been circling the school since December, seemingly learning its routines, and they arrested some parents just before the winter break. But this time, agents leapt out in riot gear and began entering the apartments just across from the school, where many students live.
"We had to lock down and keep the kids inside, and parents linked arms to block the school entrance," Bauer said. "We had a student who was looking out the window and saw them break into his apartment and just sobbed,
"That's my house. That's my home."' And we shut the blinds, but it was too late."
Bauer has been a teacher for 25 years, a period that has included a rise of school shootings and the drills that have become common to protect against them. "But I never thought it would be our own government we had to protect the kids from," she told me. "We kept them physically safe, but they saw what happened."
As she spoke, Bauer's hands were trembling. She held them up and smiled weakly. "I don't think I've stopped shaking for two weeks," she said.

"We are heartbroken but also very angry.
Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an
ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.
I do not throw around the 'hero' term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump's murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.
Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.

Respondents do not contest either of these claims or, indeed, any of Petitioner's other claims. Respondents' Answer to the Petition consists of three sentences, two of which recite the procedural history of this case. (Ans. 2) The remaining sentence reads, in full, "[alt this time, Respondents do not have an opposition argument to present." (Id.) They have not denied or contested any of the factual allegations in the Petition. They have not offered any additional facts or defenses. They have not argued that different statutes or regulations should govern this case. They have not lodged any relevant documents, despite being ordered to do so. (ECF No. 4.)
Thus, it appears that Respondents arrested a chronically ill, 70-year-old woman, who came to this country to avoid religious persecution and applied for asylum, who has lived here peacefully for 26 years and complied with all check-in requirements and other conditions of release, who has no known criminal record and poses no threat to anyone, without notice or the process required by their own regulations and without any plan for removing her from this country, then kept her in detention for months without sufficient medical care-and they do not have any
argument to offer to even try to justify these actions. Further, having acknowledged that they have no opposition to present to Petitioner's habeas petition, have they

voluntarily released her? No. Thus, Petitioner remains in custody, and her counsel, and the Court, are required to expend resources and effort to address a matter that Respondents either cannot be bothered to defend or realize is indefensible.
Since the undisputed allegations and the only evidence presented reflect that
Respondents violated their own regulations and detained Petitioner without any evidence of changed circumstances and without following the required procedures, habeas relief is warranted. See Khachikian, 2026 WL 63633, at *8 (granting habeas petition after finding that ICE violated 8 C.F.R. §§ 241.13(i)(2) and (3)). Further, since Respondents have expressly presented no opposition to any of the relief sought by Petitioner in the Petition, the Court deems this as consent to the granting of all such relief.

CONCLUSION
For all these reasons, this Court finds as fact and
concludes as matter of law that Secretaries Noem and Rubio and
their several agents and subordinates acted in concert to misuse
the sweeping powers of their respective offices to target non-
citizen pro-Palestinians for deportation primarily on account of
their First Amendment protected political speech. They did so
in order to strike fear into similarly situated non-citizen pro-
Palestinian individuals, pro-actively (and effectively) curbing
lawful pro-Palestinian speech and intentionally denying such individuals (including the plaintiffs here) the freedom of speech that is their right. Moreover, the effect of these
targeted deportation proceedings continues unconstitutionally to
chill freedom of speech to this day.

See, that feels very fatalistic to me.
It doesn't feel fatalistic to me. It feels like the truth. Let me express what I mean.
I'm Ta-Nehisi Coates, I'm the writer, I'm the individual, right? But I am part of something larger, and I've always felt myself as part of something larger. I have a tradition, I have ancestry, I have heritage. What that means is that I do whatever I do within the time that I have in my life, whatever time I'm gifted with, and much of what I do is built on what other people did before them.
Then, after that, I leave the struggle where I leave it, and hopefully, it's in a better place. Oftentimes it's not. That's the history in fact.
And then my progeny, they pick it up, and they keep it going.
I am descended from people who, in their lifetime, fought with all their might for the destruction of chattel slavery in this country.
And they never saw it. They never saw it. In my personal belief system, they died in defeat, in darkness.

I genuinely find this hilarious. Like, they lit $20 million on fire, and all it did was boost Zohran's numbers. And in no small part because they corrupted their own souls by supporting a person they know to be a corrupt, abusive asshole. What are they gonna do now? Do they think they can rehabilitate Eric Adams, who's sold our city out in a way that's so humiliating you never could have believed it?
Eric Adams is running an experiment in how you could bend the knee to Donald Trump in the most humiliating ways possible and run a government so rife with corruption it would be like a comic book, and the notion that these guys think, "Oh, maybe we'll line up behind Eric Adams." It's not even that they should be ashamed. They should just be embarrassed.
