Amazing hike today. Had the trail to myself bc of dense fog. Got to the summit and the clouds were like a wall of white. Couldn't see a thing. Then the sun broke through. Freaking amazing.

I used to give my step-dad grief for lugging this compass around on his key chain for years (despite it being far too large to possibly belong there). It now lives on my hiking backpack. Saying goodbye is so hard. The only way to move is forward, but miss him like hell.

Watched American Werewolf in London (1981) for the first time last night and my mind is still reeling at the practical effects. The planning, creation, and filming of that transformation scene must have taken months. Grimy as hell (is this where "gnarly" came from?) and so damn cool.
