Tiny farmer in Te Hiku (Far North), Aotearoa/New Zealand. I grow stuff, I write about it. She/her. Pākeha. Toitū Te Tiriti. Your cat's favourite catnip dealer 😻
Oh, let me count the nos: 1. calling me "dear". The website literally contains my name. 2. guest posts. No quality control. Window for AI slop to seep in. 3. crypto. Ew. 4. quick turn around. I have a schedule bro. Four nos is a lot of nos for a short email.
It is so weird to watch a video catch the viral wave on just one platform lol. Especially when it's the platform you personally enjoy least.
Want to grow kūmara this summer? You can get your crop started now from a supermarket kūmara. This video unexpectedly getting some extra love on the book of faces, so figured I'd share it here too.
Here's the during. The after may be a tomorrow thing. I don't have a hair dryer. Also looking at this photo, wondering if I need purple eyebrows. Maybe a decision for the morning though
I was at the supermarket today, and a woman stopped me to ask if I knew the price tags had cameras. When I looked, sure enough. On every tag in the store. How much have we over-paid for groceries so entire stores can be filled with thousands of these?
Dragged my bum outside and spent an hour weeding a garden bed. Was rewarded for my effort with some bonus potatoes. 🌱
Straight in. Whether it works or not is a different story. But most of them we bashed in with a warratah rammer doohickey.
Pretty good, all said. She's back to leaping about like a buffoon and it doesn't give me as much anxiety now when she does haha. Got some nice running photos a couple days ago.
For the last 6 months my camera roll includes a series of photos of me in changing rooms, trying on increasingly-smaller clothes, utterly surprised that they fit. This weight loss is a side effect, rather than my goal, and it's very strange.
Me too. She may be related to me either by marriage or blood, not totally sure of the connection yet. Her story has just come at me from two different sources today and this is gonna involve either luck or some real digging. Here's the photo I have of her though.
The beans never sprouted but I just dug up a bucket of bonus-spuds. Thank you past-me.
All six surprise cows are still in the paddock this morning. So that's good.
Have at it. Each entry is a different recorder so this is all we have for this one.
People who enjoy figuring out old handwriting, lend me your eyes! I can see the "to" and the "farm limited", but what is the second word?
Does anyone here know anything about 1940's girls school uniforms in Hawke's Bay? Niche field, but I'm trying to figure out which school my Gran went to. That stripy tie and the triangle badges seem unique. Napier Girls had the stripy tie in the 1970's...
Hi! It's my favourite game! "What was that dead person saying?" I need help if you're good at deciphering old handwriting. This from a great, great, grand-uncle's WW1 files. He was a naughty uncle. We've got most of it (see ALT). We're trying to figure out the first punishment... 76 hours what?
Left a lot of these kūmara too long in the ground and now I need to figure out how to use or preserve a lot of kūmara fast.
Noticed my first stock outage in a while today. Dog food. Last week the shelves were low, this week they are bare of our preferred brand. Usually gets quite a lot of shelf-space.
Urgh. Just before bed last night we discovered Sabre had at some mysterious point chewed out her stitches. How? No idea. Taking her to the vet again this morning was not as expensive as over Easter Weekend, but I was EXTREMELY grateful for yesterday's Kat's Nip sales.
