The numbers continue to tell a stark story. In the exceptionally dry year of 2021, the lower division states used around 11 million acre-feet (3.5 trillion gallons) of water, while the upper division states used just 4 million (1.3 trillion gallons). Since the megadrought began in 2000, the upper division states have used about half of our legally apportioned water, while the lower division states routinely used millions more than their apportionment. Data from the Bureau of Reclamation shows that if Lakes Powell and Mead had been managed responsibly and if the Lower Basin had used within their apportionments, the reservoirs would not be in crisis today.

Also State Senator Kipp is correct, we do need them to pass *something* this session because passing nothing lets things go forward as they are: entirely without targeted regulation.

Without a law governing how data centers can operate in Colorado, Kipp worries companies will continue building without enough environmental and community considerations.

“If we do not pass a bill, data centers in Colorado are going to continue to open without any guardrails around them,” she said. “So I want to pass something.”

Raw Farm has since declined to voluntarily recall its products despite such reccomendations from the FDA.

Kaleigh Stanziani, a spokesperson for Raw Farm, said the company “100% DISAGREE WITH THE FDA’S FALSE “POSSIBLE LINK”, AND EXTREME ALLEGATIONS”, in an email to the Guardian.

Despite reporting from several outlets, Stanziani said that all Raw Farm products have “been CONFIRMED to be negative for all harmful bacteria, including E. coli O157-H7” and denied that California is taking any action.

Beginning January 1, 2031, an operator of a large-load data center (operator) must generate, purchase, or otherwise acquire a quantity of electricity generated from renewable resources necessary to meet 100% of the operator's large-load data center's total annual electricity consumption. An operator must also achieve the hourly matching requirement. An operator must comply with these requirements through a tariff, contract, or program entered into with a utility, one or more power purchase agreements entered into with an independent power producer, or a self-supply of electricity.
