They often destroy the proportions of the room they're squeezed into, especially in older houses. Fewer en-suites and more storage, I say. This is not the most egregious example I've seen, but at four bedrooms and five bathrooms, it runs close:

The ground and first floor floorplans for a relatively new build house. The principal bedroom on the ground floor has an en-suite bathroom, and there is an additional shower room on the ground floor as well. There are three bedrooms on the first floor; two of the them have en-suites, and there is a separate bathroom as well.

I'm minded of the changes in the presentation/perception of Heyer books as per their cover illustrations. For example Heyer's The Talisman Ring, moving from Gothic deathbed scene in the hardback cover to the action of romantic thriller to bland Regency* romance. *It's not a Regency romance.

What perfect album came out when you were sixteen?

Misplaced Childhood by Marilion, with cover art by Mark Wilkinson.

Arlo, nephew of FRP, these salt and pepper spoons were a present from a lovely friend. She gave them to me because she knew I’d exclaim “Tiny spoons!” with utter joy when I saw them, and that is exactly what I did do. They were made on Orkney by the Harray Potter.

Two tiny pottery spoons with a smooth, green, speckled glaze and brown swirls at the ends of the handles. They are shown next to a 2020 five pence piece for scale. The bowls of the spoons have approximately the same diameter as the five pence piece.
