This was an interesting read (more stats/economics than I had expected)
#knitsky so I cast on this shawl last week flying home from a conference, and now I’m stuck on the first transition chart (pattern is Golden Orchids on Ravelry)
#knitsky #showmeyourknits this week’s theme is cables so here’s my XO cardigan vest in progress. Even in the dim light the cable pattern stands out very well.
#knitsky I like the project so far and I think I’m about 4 skeins of yarn short according to my math (15 rows per skein so far and at least 176 rows total before I start the collar). I bought 8 skeins of yarn (Knit Picks Wool of the Andes) in cilantro heather so at least I can get more
#knitsky 1/ Finally have some knitting mojo back XO Cardigan by Cheryl Oberle
Cat checkpoint: post your latest cat pic. (Note that this is from vacation, I can’t own a cat for reasons).
#knitsky back home with access to yarn again so I have started my third Melt the Ice hat (and searching my stash to see how much red yarn I have on hand)
#knitsky my Melt the Ice hat in the colorway Fuck Ice is done (not yet blocked). I think I have enough yarn left for a second hat (might make the ribbing longer as folding it up = uncovered ears, doesn’t accommodate curly thick hair well)
#knitsky so after all my noodling about picking out a vest pattern, today I cast on the Melt the Ice hat, in the colorway Fuck Ice from @dyemadyarns.bsky.social
#knitsky #showmeyourknits another work in progress (although I think I should have done a few rounds of blue and then started the heel turn)
#knitsky #showmeyourknits theme this week is works in progress, here is one of the many things on my needles (Muileata shawl)
#knitsky #fofriday #finishedobjectFriday finished this one, still needs blocking (and I still have some of the orange yarn left so looking for another project) Candy Stripe Shawl in Knit Picks Stroll, Patina as main color and pumpkin as contrasting color.
#knitsky Finally back on track with the bottom up shawl (I found two errors in the pattern so far)
#knitsky 1/ trying the second version of Bombshell Betty aviator hat and I have already found the first error in the pattern. And then of course I messed up the last wrong side row that I knitted so it was time to quit knitting for the night and to go be indecisive about yarn color choices
#knitsky how did I manage to have 4 more slipped stitches on one side of a rectangle than the other side of the rectangle? I think I can make corrections, but I swear this project is cursed
#knitsky trying to decide if I can put up with my current slip stitch edges being asymmetrical or whether I should frog this and slip the edge stitches properly so that they match & are easier to pick up (pattern is Bombshell Betty hat so the stitches on both sides of the strip get picked up)
#knitsky #wipwednesday finally have an easy project on my needles although this picture is blurry (and I have to accommodate my cycling calf muscles so my top-down socks always have odd cuffs)
#knitsky aviator hat started (my ears were cold on the bike ride this morning), and I ordered safety yellow yarn and neon pink yarn for two more hats
#knitsky one of those days where you finally decide on a pattern for your next sock project, and 8 rounds into the cuff, you realize that you twisted the cast on into a moebius as you joined the stitches to knit in the round.
^Since the end of June, so here’s the shawl edge as written (I’m trying to decide whether to add more rows of solid garter stitch alternating colors; someone else on Ravelry who did this pattern did three garter ridges of each color to give it more of a border)
#knitsky #shawlknitting “knit on through all crises” mosaic beaded knitting takes forever but clue 7/8 is done
#knitsky #shawlknitting one more clue to go, but it doesn’t arrive until October. It’ll be interesting to see how the designer finishes this one up
#knitsky my yarn broke seven times and I have used maybe a quarter of the skein at most. I’m thinking that it would work better as crochet roses/flowers than anything else. Pic doesn’t show current progress
