It's not discrimination. They can compete in the sex they were born as, or play in women's hous leagues if other players are ok with it. There are no arguments for trans women in women's sport. The argument boils down to "our feelings" and the "right" to play in women's sport that doesn't exist.

Dear Andy Burnham MP,

We are writing to you in recognition of the increasingly likely event that you become the next Prime Minister.

As Green Party MPs, we were elected on a manifesto of real change. It could not be clearer that the public are desperate for politicians to deliver on this. Where our agendas overlap, and if there is prospect of delivering real change, we will work with this government in a
spirit of cooperation. Where the government fall short, we hold Ministers accountable.

People's lives are getting harder. Everyday life has become unaffordable and public services are under immense pressure. People no longer trust that politicians or politics will deliver for them, with growing unrest in our communities. We have watched a
genocide unfold in Gaza, and successive Prime Ministers have refused to take the necessary action. And last week we witnessed some of the impacts of the climate and nature crisis, with the second ever heat-related red alert weather warning in our country's history. These are just some of the many crises our country is facing.

While people's lives are becoming harder, those responsible for fuelling these crises are cashing in. In the first month after the US and Israel's initial strikes on Iran, the share value of just five North Sea oil and gas companies was boosted by £73 billion (Greenpeace,
2026).

What we need, what the public want, and what Keir Starmer failed to deliver, is a fundamental break with this failing status quo. Not tweaks, not backslides, but immediate action to end the complex and connected crises we are experiencing. But the public are tired of hearing about 'change' and not feeling it.

The Green Party is clear on what real change looks like. So, if you become the next Prime Minister, will you to take the following initial steps?

- Fix our electoral system: Introduce proportional representation for all national and local elections before the next General Election.

- Tax wealth fairly: At the Autumn Budget, align rates of Capital Gains Tax with income tax; introduce National Insurance on investment income in line with employment income; and take necessary steps to introduce an annual tax on the wealth of multimillionaires and billionaires.
- Hold the line on new oil and gas and restore nature: Do not approve proposed drilling at Rosebank, Jackdaw or Cambo, or allow new oil and gas extraction through tiebacks to existing production facilities; and rapidly scale up action to reverse the loss of nature by 2030.

- Take water into public ownership: Starting with Thames Water, use powers the government already has to bring failing water companies into special administration and back into public hands, not just public control.
- Introduce rent controls: Roll out rent controls across the country, as you have called for as Mayor of Greater Manchester and as the new Green Party Mayors are now demanding, and fund councils to buy existing homes from private landlords.
- Uphold international law: Accept the findings of the UN Independent Commission of Inquiry that the Israeli government has committed genocide in Gaza, and impose comprehensive sanctions, including a full arms embargo.

This is of course not an exhaustive list of policies or actions needed to address the multiple crises our country is facing. But taking immediate steps to deliver on the above measures, which are hugely popular, would send a signal that you are serious about changing course. Our constituents, and the country, need more than just a new manager.

In the example in paragraph 4.97, instead of the message in the post, the member at the community club shared the same petition but described community club funding measures (the example in 4.97 was "youth groups designed for gay people,") as "undermining traditional values and making it in practice forbidden to teach fundamental Christian beliefs related to the creation of men and women and marriage".

A member reported the post and complained that it was homophobic. In this case, if the club removed the post and banned the member, it is likely to be liable for direct discrimination if it acted based on the complaining member's stereotype that persons who hold Christian beliefs about marriage or sexual activity have negative attitudes towards gay persons, rather than an objective assessment of the words used.

Executive Summary

The Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) was introduced in the UK following a series of serious, and in some cases fatal, dog attacks on humans. Its stated aim is to:

"prohibit persons from having in their possession or custody dogs belonging to types bred for fighting [ ... ]to enable restrictions to be imposed in relation to other types of dog which present a serious
danger to the public; to make further provision for securing that dogs are kept under proper control; and for connected purposes."1

However, the breed-specific legislation contained within the Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) does not represent an evidence-based approach to dog control and we consider that the Act more widely has been ineffective in delivering its stated aims.

A review five years after the implementation of the Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) found no significant reduction in dog bites.2 In fact, a study published in 2021 found that adult hospital admission rates for
dog bites tripled in England between 1998-2018, and the incidence of dog bites in children had remained consistently high.3 The same study found that between the financial years 2009/2010 and
2017/2018 the total estimated direct costs of dog bite admissions to hospitals were £174,188,443.4 Further, ONS data shows that dog attack fatalities have in fact increased since the introduction of the
Act.5

A Public Safety Problem That Has Nearly Doubled in 15
Years

Dog bite injuries in England have nearly doubled in a generation. In 2022/23, there were 9,336 hospital admissions for dog bites in England - up from 4,699 in 2007/08, a 98% increase in 15 years. The trend is driven not by children (as is commonly assumed) but by a tripling of incidence in adults. And the consequences are increasingly severe: 16 people were killed by dogs in 2023 - compared to just 2 in 2019, an 800% increase in fatal attacks over four years.

Who Is Most at Risk?

Contrary to common assumptions, the rise in dog bite hospital admissions is primarily driven by adults, not children. The Scientific Reports analysis of NHS Hospital Episode Statistics (1998-2018) found that the increase in dog bite admissions was caused by a tripling of incidence in adults, with all age groups over 15 years showing an Incidence Rate Ratio of 1.040-1.065 per year. Children aged 0-9 still have the highest admission rate per 100,000 within paediatric age groups, and children under 5 bitten on the head and neck represent the most clinically severe paediatric injuries. But the headline trend is adult attacks.

The public revolt against the controversial Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 [DDA) has been solidly simmering through UK society since the inception of the act. The recent suggestion from PETA to add the Staffordshire Bull Terrier as the latest and fifth banned breed has brought this long standing contempt to boiling point. Often cited
as one of the most flawed pieces of UK legislation (House of Commons, 2018), the public are calling for more responsibility to be placed on dog owners/handlers and less prejudice to be placed on
specific breeds of dog.

Hood et al (2000) claimed that "it is a truth universally acknowledged that the UK's Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 is a cardinal example of poor, ill-thought-out regulation". One might ask how such a widely criticised law could be enacted in the UK. The DDA was drafted in the early 1990's in response to a supposed 'moral panic' that was reportedly sweeping the UK over a spate of dog attacks on
humans, particularly children. It is important to note here that the authors do not agree with this notion of a 'moral panic', but given the scope of this piece we suggest reading Horsley (2017) for a
nuanced and critical analysis of this concept.

The DDA was rushed through in a bid to limit dog attacks, earning it the name 'knee-jerk' legislation. The act aimed to limit dog attacks in two predominant ways: Section 3 places a responsibility on dog owners/handlers...However, the disagreement is in relation to the more draconian Section 1 of the act which restricts and prohibits, amongst other things, the ownership of certain breeds of dogs, namely: Pit Bull Terriers, Japanese Tosas, Dogo Argentinas and Fila Brazilerios. At the time of drafting the legislation, these breeds were considered the most dangerous and likely to attack despite critics of the act pointing out the lack of any robust evidence absent from the literature surrounding the introduction of the act. It is Section 1 that is referred to as 'Breed Specific Legislation' (BSL).

Trans Lucent: truth, clarity, justice

We can confirm that an application to call for a debate to reverse the Supreme Court Judgment (FWS v SGM) has been made to the Government's Petitions Office.

The petition also calls for the Government to restore the full effect of the Equality Act 2010 and the Gender Recognition Act 2004 before the judgment was handed down, and to reject the recently published EHRC Draft Code of Practice.

We are currently awaiting approval from the Petitions Office. Should the petition be approved, we will share it widely.

Please be ready to encourage all those who stand with trans people to sign it to show MP's the level of support for trans rights.

The whole website brouhaha is another great example of For Women Scotland and the gender critical movement using rhetorically loaded lingo with a sprinkling of statistics to cover what is fundamentally a whiny moral-panic argument. The real problem for women in Scottish politics is that, according to research by feminist group Engender, a record number of women MSPs chose not to stand for re-election this year. When asked why, two of the reasons for leaving were misogynistic abuse (including on social media) and threats to
safety. None of their recommendations for dealing with the reasons women leave politics had to do with defining womanhood.

The Greater Manchester Mayor was previously in favour of the right to self-declare gender, and questioned Government guidance that said women's lavatories should not be used by trans women, biological men who say they are female.

However, he has now said it is time to support a new code of practice from the equality watchdog, which states that single-sex toilets in businesses and public buildings must be used according to biological sex.

13.168 Where, regardless of such communications, there is clear evidence of an issue with members of the opposite sex accessing or seeking to access the single or separate-sex service or association in question, it may be legitimate to ask individuals to provide confirmation that they are of the eligible sex by proportionate
means. Evidence of such concern might include the individual's physique or physical appearance, behaviour or concerns raised by
other service users. However, service providers, those performing public functions and associations must keep in mind that it is
not always possible to be sure of a person's sex from their appearance. Whether it is legitimate to approach any particular
individual to make enquiries about their sex will be a sensitive question that will depend on all the circumstances.

13.177 Requesting confirmation of sex in such circumstances may not have a harassing effect and, even though the approach may
place trans people at a particular disadvantage, it is likely to be justified. Read Chapter 8 for more detail on harassment.

13.178 Where an individual confirms, in response to such a request, that they are not of the sex for which the single or separate-sex
service or association in question is intended, they may be required to leave and thereafter be excluded from the service. This should
again be handled as sensitively as possible in the circumstances.

13.179 Where there remains a genuine concern about the accuracy of the response to a request for an individual to confirm their
sex, then the service provider, person performing public functions or association should consider what action is proportionate in the circumstances. There is no type of official record or document in the UK which provides reliable evidence of sex. For example, sex on passports and driving licences may be changed with or without a
Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC), and birth certificates may reflect the acquired gender of someone who has a GRC.
Therefore, it is unlikely to be proportionate or practical to ask for further evidence of a person's sex. In such circumstances, it is
likely to be necessary to weigh up the relevant factors to decide whether to exclude the individual from the service or association
or to permit them to continue to access it.

Likewise, his personal memory of homophobic bullying seems much louder to him than some women's concerns about sharing single-sex spaces with biological males. Polanski refers to himself as "an LGBT person", not a gay man. He can see why his partner didn't want to live with anyone who walked through the door, yet is offended that
many women also want privacy.

Cahokia is a modern-day historical park in Collinsville, Illinois, enclosing the site of the largest pre-Columbian city on the continent
of North America. The original name of this city has been lost - Cahokia is a modern-day designation from the tribe that lived nearby in the 19th century - but it flourished between c. 600-c. 1350 CE.

The city seems to have initially grown organically as more people moved into the region (at its height, it had a population of over 15,000 people) but the central structures - the great mounds
which characterize the site - were carefully planned and executed and would have involved a large work force laboring daily for at least ten years to create even the smallest of the 120 which once rose above the city (of which 80 are still extant). The city flourished through long-distance trade routes running in every direction which allowed for urban development. There was a wide plaza for
merchants, a residential area for the common people and another for the upper-class, a ball court, a playing field for the game known as Chunkey, fields of corn and other crops, solar calendar of wooden poles, and the mounds which served as residences, sometimes graves, and for religious and political purposes.

Dear Dr Shah

Social media use of Martina Navratilova.

I write to you as a BBC license-payer to bring to your attention the recent social media use by the BBC's regular sport's commentator, Martina Navratilova.

As you will be aware, the BBC is inevitably seen as approving the behaviour of individuals it chooses to use as commentators.

You will also be aware that transgender individuals are a vulnerable and often unfairty targeted and maligned minority group. Ms Navratilova is entitled to her views about the place of
transgender individuals in society. What she is not entitled to do is to libel such individuals with impunity.

You will be aware that in a controversial and extensively-reported case in the Dundee employment tribunal last year, a nurse, Ms Peggie, brought a case against her employers, the Fife
NHS Trust and a transgender doctor, Dr Beth Upton. The tribunal dismissed all allegations against Dr Upton and only upheld 4 minor allegations against the Trust. The tribunal found that Ms Peggie
had harassed Dr Upton. There were no allegations of sexual misconduct against Dr Upton. In recent weeks it has become clear that, presumably as a result of the toxic media and social media
comment on the case, Dr Upton has emigrated to Australia.

Despite the facts above, Ms Navratilova felt able to make the attached tweet on 'X' which is firstly disrespectful of Dr Upton by referring to her as 'he' but then goes on to make the extraordinary
claim that Dr Upton is a sexual predator.

I am unaware of a shred of evidence to support this extraordinary claim about a person entirely exonerated in tribunal proceedings.

I understand that Ms Navratilova has deleted the tweet but it has been widely reposted and commented upon on social media.

If Ms Navratilova is used as a commentator by the BBC hereafter, it will inevitably be seen as an endorsement of this behaviour by Ms Navratilova by the BBC, or at the very least, a sign that this
behaviour has no consequences in the eyes of the BBC.

I look forward to hearing what steps the BBC intends to take to dissociate itself from the tweet by Ms Navratilova and to ensure that persons it uses as commentators maintain appropriate standards of behaviour in future.

Ages since I've heard a guy do, "I DID support feminism, but since you won't do what I say to advance women's rights, I'll stop backing your cause. It's YOUR fault." Perhaps these faux progressives are too young to know they sound just as ignorant, bitter, fragile and silly as their predecessors.

White guy lauds his "important conversation" with another white guy on the Left's "Ideological Purity" risking a rise in ecofascism. Many women (cis and trans) challenge his claim their rights conflict. He spends hours telling them they're wrong and blocks them. Faux progressives have fragile egos!

They're already "hanging" trans people, and migrants, and disabled people, more so than the Tories ever, and in some cases, worse than Reform propose. Also, you seem to enjoy the idea of trans people being hanged far too much.
