Several years ago, @hogansalley.bsky.social noted this great moment in comics history: "Snoopy first walked on his hind legs on Jun 28, 1957." A seemingly minor event which turned out to be a stroke of genius. ♥️

Last two panels from a *Peanuts* comic from August 16, 1960: Linus, leaving the outfield, pauses and turns toward Charlie Brown, who is standing on the pitcher's mound. Linus says "Thus endeth the ball game." In the final panel, Linus has departed. Charlie Brown is still on the pitcher's mound, now looking in the opposite direction back toward the outfield, presumably thinking about the game-winning home run he has just given up. He says to himself, "Aye, thus endeth the ball game."

And then I liked the built-in irony that their mutual demise is the true story of how this lady met this fellow, and they knew it was much more than a hunch, that this group might somehow form a family—you know the rest."

7/ Klaric's name doesn't appear anywhere in her namesake park -- or at least it didn't when I took this photo in June 2025.

1/ Celebrating #EarthDay with a never-before published bonus illustration I originally created some years ago for my Cuyahoga River feature. I'll write more about this image when the anniversary of the Cuyahoga River fire rolls around in June, but...
