A beautiful day to be out and about. With coffee and cake stop at Unorthodox Roasters.
Tonight's gig No. 2: D. K. Harrell with his blues band at The Spiegletent. Fantastic, tight band and a great set. The voice and the guitar (called Crystal after his mother) just superb.
Tonight's gig, No. 1: kicking off the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival at The Spiegletent, @bazzamarama and James Brown is Annie. Great funk and soul music!
The pond weed and surrounding plants really took over the pond the last few weeks. Removed what felt like a ton of weed from it and it's teeming with frogs, sticklebacks and insects.
Today's walk: A wee 6 mile wander along the coast, with Sheena, to explore The Ship That Never Sailed, aka Blackness Castle, aka Fort William (for Outlanders fans) . Fabby lunch at The Lobster Pot.
This mornings cycle. Just a short one as I wanted to test the legs on some steeper hills to see where I am in preparation for a sportive in a couple of months. The legs said, "You've got work to do!" The local horse flies were rubbing their wings at the sight of an easy meal.
Last night's gig: @phantogram.com at SWG3, on the last leg of of their European tour. Sold out and bouncing!
Last night's gig: Jazz trio, Sekoya, at The Traverse. Well worth the trip through to see them. A real groove to their music and the sound was excellent. Super support from Dara Dubh, playing the harp like I've never heard before.
Today's walk with Sheena: Water of Leith from Balerno to Slateford. Perfect weather for it. Cakes and coffee at the visitor centre but unfortunately nothing there for lunch.
Tonight's gig: Withered Hand at Backstage at the Green. Only spotted this at the last minute but what a great way to spend a Friday evening. Beautifully crafted songs performed in an intimate venue. Part of Everywhere At Once nationwide grassroots music festival.
I am supposed to be at the "one in, one out" stage but this just arrived and there isnt one ready to go! 🤷♂️
Probably a better watch than the football in the early hours. (From the kitchen window)
Taking advantage of the glorious weather today. A wee breeze made it bearable on the move but very warm when we stopped. (I know we have not been suffering the silly temps dan saff)
To end a busy day, last night's gig: Belle and Sebastian at the Caird Hall, with terrific support from The Pastels. The band on toppest form as they played "If You're Feeling Sinister". An album they released 30 days ago, or so it feels!
Last gig here was Genesis in around 1975/6. 3rd row in the balcony and you're mikes from the stage! At least I can see the whole stage this time.

Wee trip yesterday to the gardens at Backhouse Rossie Estate near Collessie. Nice wee lunch at the cafe too!
