As I continue my way through the Women’s Prize for Fiction, I just discovered the genius of Kingsolver. This is “Forrest Gump” as written by John Steinbeck. Mesmerizing and addictive, books like this are the reason why I do these reading challenges. #booksky

Our 6th Nebula-nominated read is a surreal novel by @darylwriterguy.bsky.social. Examining our relationship w/ tech & the absurdities it causes our lives, it also questions the very nature of our reality. (What if God is just a computer programmer?) Definitely a contender for the award! #booksky
Our 5th Nebula nominee is a brilliant allegorical takedown of doctoral programs, but is also, I’m afraid, overly long, w/ an unsympathetic protagonist. It is undeniably worthy of the Nebula—again, it’s a brilliant piece of lit.—but it is not a book I’d recommend to anyone. #booksky

My 3rd Nebula review is @nassos.bsky.social’s dark debut novel. A retelling of the story of Bluebeard, this is a labyrinthine, complicated work. Its difficulty, no doubt, is intentional, meant to mirror the vagaries of trauma & abuse. Powerful & complex, but not for the faint of heart. #booksky
2nd Nebula-nominee review is the most challenging book I’ve read so far this year, but worth the effort. @stephengrahamjones.com’s latest is a haunting allegory for the vampirism that was European colonialism. One of the most unique books I’ve ever read & a solid contender for the award! #booksky
