Inception (2010) Dir Christopher Nolan Saw this when it was released at the cinema and several times in bluray. Couldn’t resist an opportunity for the big screen again, so had a trip to the Filmhouse today. Still marvellous entertainment
Regime Change - Maggie Haberman & Johnathan Swan (2026) Well researched and written but ultimately it’s about DJT and it left me dispirited. Much of it we already knew but the insights into his cabinet reveal just how distorted his regime is. One of the most wretched the modern world has seen

Fierce Beer - S’Mores Porter 6.5% abv This game is bubbling away nicely with that goal. Smooth and sweet with a nice roast
Yes - Heaven & Earth (2014) #cd Last studio outing for Chris Squire and he has a half songwriting credit on one song. Not many highlights on this but it’s not as bad as many insist. Hat tip to Billy Sherwood who mixed it and salvaged the process. Think the band wanted this out of the way?
Interstellar (2014) dir. Christopher Nolan. I’d only watched this on Bluray but managed to see it at the Filmhouse, Edinburgh today. The big screen really helped convey the narrative better, letting me connect with the movie as never before. Plenty of flaws but still impressive
I’m strategically sat outside in the beer garden of the Portobello Tap for two reasons. Grabbing a beer in the sun and watching the chef crank out the meals from his shack. Think he’s on prep duties, haven’t seen a burger yet
Morning chores done, coffee break Japan - Oil On Canvas (1983) #vinyl An almost double live album. Three songs were new studio recordings. Some enhancements were made to the live songs too. Production is top audiophile quality. 7/10

Just finished watching Nosferatu The Vampyre (1979) Dir. Werner Herzog. Klaus Kinski’s portrayal of Dracula was much different to anything I’ve ever seen and he was ably supported by Bruno Ganz and Isabelle Adjani as the Harkers. Photography was very sympathetic to this gothic tale. Recommended
Bowie the biography - Wendy Leigh (2014) Not a lot in the local chazzas but picked this up for £2. Looks an easy read and it’s Bowie
Yes - Big Generator (1987) #vinyl This is the band embracing the 80’s with some aplomb. Bombastic and a far cry from their previous Prog era. Trevor Rabin has his stamp all over this in terms of songwriting, playing, vocals and production. A divisive album, like many by the band
Yes - Heaven and Earth (2014) #vinyl Thought I’d give this a spin again. Believe Again and Subway Walls are the best of a double album which rarely hits any heights. It’s not all mediocre, just lacking some pace and a spark that seemed to allude Roy Thomas Baker, the producer. Nice sleeve though

Junior Murvin- Police & Thieves (1977) #vinyl The title song is iconic either from its debut prior to the Notting Hill Carnival riots of ‘76 or the Clash version. Rest of the album is pretty tasty too. Inner sleeve shows the depth of the Island catalogue circa 83 I have some of these what about you?

Justin Hayward • John Lodge Blue Jays (1975) Not that far removed from a Moody Blues album with Tony Clarke producing. It has the familiar type of songs with lush arrangements.

Gary Brooker - No More Fear Of Flying (1979) #vinyl Debut solo album from the Procol Harum frontman with a decent line up of musicians supporting him. George Martin production is as traditional as you’d expect. Nothing remarkable though and it probably struggled to find an audience around then
