I'm excited by long walks, cycling up mountains, MTBing down them, LEGO, thoughtful writing, and playing with geospatial data. 📍 Vancouver, BC
wormery check-in! - 2x more walkers (had to actually optimise the SQL query this time, haha) - also, interesting how the Vancouver/Burnaby divide emerges on the map
only reading articles I saved for later on my kobo has been a great practice if my sleep-deprived or just-woke-up self doesn't find sth interesting, chances are I won't even like it
huh…updated sauntervan's layout because I thought it was ugly, and my year-long writer's block just vanished! switched to a microblog style and backfilling became fun. 55 ➜ 137 posts this week kevindeyoungster.com/sauntervan
Another! Back injury survivor says Gogomi is exactly what they needed to get back out there!
Another! Someone's friends in Victoria are jealous they can't play along "Thanks for making my dog walks more fun!"
walked 5km up Mt. Wakakusa to see an ancient burial mound, and Nara of course
after a 6-month hiatus (winter sabbatical), I'm back at it with Gogomi. pushed an update last night to testflight. are we...so back?
awww, need to get an affiliate link with all the folks I keep putting on Witch Hat Atelier
Finished this post at the JJ Bean on Hastings near a notoriously stubborn back door. Been amusing watching what people use…shoulders, backsides, legs, one guy with full hands used his knee! Helped an elderly person who couldn't budge it. So many personalities, just as many ways to open a door.
😂 didn't realise my reputation on ig is the guy walking all of burnaby. the sauntervan plot twist is that I've walked more of burnaby (~23%) than vancouver (~13%)
infinite scrolling is great actually, you just need more depth
morning walk in Capitol Hill pt.2, tracing unexplored roads
biggest test of my financial discipline this year has been not buying new lego. just saw the woodland mushroom botanical set, very tempting!
an evening walk in Coquitlam. tapped at Inlet Centre station to meet a friend I haven't seen in 2 years. walked up to the river that divides this city and PoCo.
curious what the reward cycles are for mangakas WHA’s one of my all time faves. started in 2016*, and the anime’s only coming out NOW, a decade later before it goes mainstream… *I discovered it two years ago at a book shop on Cambie
walk ended at McGill library to pick up a hold. my self-imposed rule is to only read this at Confederation Park. hopefully my hold lasts til I'm done 😆
a chill morning walk around Capitol Hill (new neighbourhood). ended up lost in the bushes (map ≠ territory) and popped out close to a viewpoint I didn't know existed!
thoroughly enjoyed it. glad I picked it as the last sci-fi read for the year. on to the next!
/4 At the Cathedral Square, bald man appears, throwing two frisbees, red and blue, across the pond. Walks around to retrieve then repeats. Red lands in the algae water. He pulls off his hoodie and, to the relief of the avian onlookers, dips only his hand in. Wipes it on the hoodie. Keeps throwing.
