Not with how she shifted their arms across the linens to rest above his head and pulled her knees higher so she could take more of him in that heat that consumed him. Devoured him.
No, Mana was having a great fucking time on top of him, and he wanted to see more of her at this angle.

Mori takes advice from his cousin to scry a different way for answers on what he's supposed to be doing with his life with what he is. This next scry is indeed different and he finds something that makes a sound identical to what Mana heard hundreds of miles away (just a LOT more of it). 🧵3/4

And in the instant he thought it looked a bit too much like an eye, the darkness and the moon shifted as if to focus on him like an eye. His borrowed blood ran cold and no matter how he thought or strained, the fox wouldn't move away, its eyes fixed on the moon. The body didn't shiver, the muscles held no tension. Ringing filled his head—not ears—like the song of thousands of tiny crystal glasses vibrating far away to the beat of wings, getting ever closer with each lengthy beat as either his sight darkened or the moon glared at him.

#AprilWorldbuilders This WIP map needs more updates after I scaled up my map further BUT it's a good starting point! Reinaya (boundaries not yet depicted here) gets its water from two freshwater sources: Lake Shiwa and its outlet, the Shuhatsu River. 🧵1/4

An early phase WIP of the region of Rinna where Reinaya resides. It features a lake that vaguely looks like the kanji 四 with two outlet rivers on the eastern side (one in the northeast corner and the other in the southeast). The southeastern river splits part of the city-state of Reinaya (not yet depicted).

A rattle and a soft, repetitive thunk against glass interrupted his process. Bert glanced over his shoulder to see Reimei trying to grab a larger orange konpeitō in a shallow sea of smaller pieces, missing every time, and in its frustration hitting the side wall with its paw. Hakumei seemed to wait patiently for its turn with the jar.
“Reimei, yametoke,” Mori scolded it.
The kuraima's motions stopped as its big orange eyes pleaded with them both.
“Ah, it's fine,” Bert turned back to the reading, flipping the second card over. “Much like Rei's little challenge behind us, we move to your next card. Your immediate challenge, represented by the Fool.”
“I'm starting to think this is a ploy to mock me.”
“There's seventy-seven cards in here that were thoroughly shuffled, sunshine, and you cut them,” he countered and the rattle of glass quietly picked up again. “But what's a fool if not someone who doesn't know? And what is not known but the unknown? That’s your biggest struggle in finding your answers, you hesitate in taking that first step in new territory. The unknown.”

“I'm considering this an ambush.” Mori gave him an amused grin that reached his eyes before patting Hakumei on its head then whispering to it. The kuraima dropped off his shoulder in a small flurry of dark purple shards that disappeared long before they reached the pavement. “But I'm down, I suppose. The worst that'll happen is I have another poor night of sleep, and I vomit in the morning.”
“Now that's the spirit!”
They passed the bars, the large street food market, the hostess clubs, and even the boring storefronts that housed unspoken brothels, with Bert making no steps towards any of them. After all, none of these would be needed this evening.
“We're going to my work, if you haven't figured that out,” Bert said as he caught the confused look shot his way in one of his twirls around the corner of an intersection.
“Why there?”
