My only garage sale pickup so far this season: half of Resident Evil 2. It's just the Claire disc, but hey, it's still a completely playable game. And it's in shockingly good shape for a loose disc. I say "loose" because it's in the case for a common PC CD-ROM game. Who wants to guess which one?

Dayton has so many neat stores selling old games, comics, toys, books, magazines, music, DVDs, etc. that I feel strange when my purchases across all those shops amount to something like two little Battle Beasts figures and a $10 Super NES cartridge.
Suncoast at the Fairfield Commons Mall in Beavercreek, Ohio has a good anime selection if you a) need to fill some holes in your DVD library of largely forgotten series or b) want an exhibit showing why the early-2000s anime bubble popped.

This really cool! I like how the artists are listed. And I like this F1 Boy art by Yukihisa Fujita, partly because it helps me envision a world where every Game Boy title had "Boy" in it. Some comic pickups from the local library fundraiser. Tsutomu Nihei's Noise is curious because the hardcover Vertical release is just $15 on Amazon BUT people are paying five times that on eBay for the old Tokyopop paperback. Was there weird censorship or some quality issue with the new version?

In honor of July 4 on this Random Game Saturday, here is the Sega Genesis version of Toughman Contest, a largely forgotten boxing game based on a recurring competition that got people killed. For the record, I paid a lot less than $15 for it.

Night Raid seems pretty interesting! I've always found Takumi shooters to have neat ideas but varying design quality, so I should probably try this one! It could use some pilots designed by manga artists, though.
The most interesting unconfirmed trivia I've ever heard about Nintendo 64 sales is that Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth was the worst-selling video game in North America for 1999 (it came out in late December 1998). Across all platforms, that is. And it's not a bad game! Poor Electro Brain.

#randomgamesaturday again? Okay, here's Soul Edge/Soul Blade, the start of Namco's Soul Calibur series. The PlayStation port has a spectacular intro and a bunch of extras, but as far as I can tell it's never had a digital re-release. Is that because of rights issues with the amazing soundtrack?
I picked up a Japanese Nintendo 64 and found this extra piece in the box. If it didn't have a Nintendo logo I would assume it was some misplaced dental x-ray mount. (It's the microphone holder for Hey You, Pikachu.)
