These were good. You should read these adn/or talk to me about them. (And, er, yes, apologies for lack of authorial names.
75 by women: 64 by men. 91 in translation. From 139 different authors/collaborations, from 58 different countries (with multiple from 30 of those). Which means I kept my resolution not to read 343 new books.
In the ruling itself, the first reference is in paras 1000 (p233) onwards, particularly para 1028 on p 238. Para 1034 is quite damning
RE: rewriting history, I can't help remembering Cherry decided to QT messages of support from colleagues when she was threatened, blaming them, and calling down abuse on them while preteninding not to. Then spent a lot of time complaining that no one in the party had offered support at that time.
2024 was a very silly year. Read books from 66 countries, 27 of which I hadn't before. Most (112) by women. Most (115) in translation. You should read Shiela Heti's Alphabetical Diaries.
How fun to read as someone who lost a friend saying "I know you need support and I know you're unable to acccess it" not that long ago and ... yeah.
"It was never going to be okay" comes to mind... but I thinka more charitable one would be this
Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers. Day 1: In The Dream house -- Carmen Maria Machao #Books #BookSky💙📚 #BookChallenge
I ended up getting super flexible frames for this reason. And still had a point last year where I was wearing this. Which may be linked to losing them outside for a few days. Also, the amount of times I've found them in the fridge or, after prolonged searching, on my face is absurd
Man, NHS mental healthcare/ADHD management is terrible Just got this in something explaining that there's no NHS service available to adjust and review my ADHD medication, I was put on by the NHS ten years ago (after getting an NHS diagnosis.) Any advice on best way to abstain from a healthy diet?
Ahhh: "Dave Sim stopped working on the story, leaving Carson Grubaugh to provide his own finale" [an artist he chose] -- but he's been since working on more pages. His hand was too injured to finish, someone else finished for him. Now he's been redoing himself, I think? "Strange" is appropriate.
Right. New Year's resolution to get back into reading thoroughly achieved. In addition to the 173 books I read for the first time, I reread 13 books, for 186. Of which 135 were in the last 154 days/five months.) (I am aware this is very silly, but dopamine is dopamine.)
I can't think of anyone in Scottish politics who I've disagreed with more than Grant Costello. He's someone who'll be an excellent candidate and I can't wait to see how he does.
Sunak is forcing me to agree, in a specific and limited way, with Boris Johnson. T his is not okay.
