@kiltedhiker
Retired, kilted hiker who is a Greekophile. I post mostly about Greek archaeology and history (particularly Occitanie & Albigensian). well as the occasional rant about politics and social issues. Most people would probably say I’m a bit of a lefty.
A wee Nativity scene hand carved from olive wood. Bought it in 2008 from a Palestinian in Bethlehem.
Some more images. The names on thes modern graves are the same as those involved in the 13th century . The original 10th C church (recently restored). All images are mine.
The weekend just passed was a “single stick “ tournament. Literally a straight stick with a small hand guard and one target only-head. Based on navy sabre training, it can be brutal. Example here but not me. 😉🗡️
This is chateaux of Montillou. The entire village was “interviewed” by the inquisitors.
It’s marginally better but we have elections next year so ……….🤷♂️ I’m well enough & swording every week. We have a broadsword event next week #broadswordfest and a single stick tournament at the end of classes. Lots of opportunities to be boffed on the head. Video from the last event.
Sometimes I wonder if teaching my granddaughter martial skills is wise! 🤔 She’ll be after my swords soon.
