One of these days, y'all are going to notice that Victor LaValle is writing BLACK PANTHER INTERGALACTIC & that we still have all 3 issues on the shelves!

Three comic books, side-by-side. They are titled BLACK PANTHER INTERGALACTIC issues #1-3. Each cover features the character Black Panther. In #1, he stands ready. The faces of other characters as well as space ships float behind him. In #2 he is being menaced by a character who looks like Doctor Octopus. In #3 he is fighting N'Jadaka.

Started working my way through this. It looks beat up cuz I bought it used. I read chapter 1 last week; this week I did the exercises from chapter 1 and then read chapter 2.

The best hot take I have read about the #drone situation was published before the drone situation started happening. It's a graphic novel about time travel, but I'm sure that's just a coincidence...

I carved this image out of wood & printed it once because I had no idea what I was doing. Just messing around, learning how to use various wood carving tools.

LOCAL SHRUBBERY HAS OPINIONS!!!

An evergreen shrub has two big eyeballs added to it & a giant pink cardboard tongue. It is surrounded by other Halloween decorations like a plastic skull, carved pumpkins, giant spiderweb with spider & egg sac, and a grave stone that reads "R I.P."

Three that have caught my eye recently have taken nature elements & messed with them.

The cover for the trade paperback edition of BENEATH THE TREES WHERE NOBODY SEES by Patrick Horvath and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou has an anthropomorphic bear dragging a bloody bag & carrying a shovel as viewed from above through a break in a forest canopy.

The cover for Charles Burns' graphic novel FINAL CUT has a red binding. We can see the back of a white person with long red hair, wearing what looks like a blue tank top. The background is some sort of organic purple pattern, similar to woodgrain.

The cover for OFF MENU written by OLIVER GERLACH & illustrated by KELSI JO SILVA shows two fantasy figures observing the food made by a white woman with red hair and a heart on her T-shirt. The figure on the left is young, with glasses & ears like a puppy, & dressed in an orange long sleeve shirt & a denim jumper. The figure on the right is blue with long pointy ears, long curly dark hair pulled back, & is wearing a short-sleeved chef's jacket. The steam coming off the food loops around & provides the background for the title.

New jewelry from start to finish: lapis lazuli cabochon in a silver bezel. A difficult project & I'm delighted that it came out well.

New ring from start to finish, made over the course of 8 hours spread over 3 classes.

I've been working through jewelry classes at our local adult ed space & this is the latest result! SO SHINY!

A silver wire bracelet made up of 11 heart shapes joined together by small rings. The clasp is shaped like a tiny barbell with melted silver at each end. It is very shiny.

It occurs to me that I haven't done an "I made this!" post in a while...

Copper chain necklace with an 8-pointed star medallion that was cut from a sheet of copper. A rectangle is cut out of the center of the medallion & it's imprinted with star-shaped decorative dents. A handmade bail attaches it to the chain.

A brass octogon-shaped brass bracelet with a rope-like pattern imprinted on the metal.

Two brass rings & one silver ring. They are very shiny.

The silver ring from the previous picture now has a bezel attached & a dome-shaped amethyst set in the bezel. My thumb & pointer finger hold it up for optimal viewing.

I made a silly thing because I kept seeing it flip back and forth.

Me, standing in the dark, smelling my night-blooming jasmine and thinking, "Man, if I could bottle that and carry it around with me, I'd do it in a heartbeat." *perfume epiphany*

Let's see, since last month's thread, I've taught myself basic stone-carving with my Dremel tool, learned to make glass beads, and started the fall crop of French Breakfast radishes. Also, I'm still writing poetry and learning embroidery.

This summer, I carved the wood & printed the Loch Ness Monster; I wove the bracelet using a Kumihimo disk loom; I cut, filed, hammered, curled, & polished the ring; and I invented the delicious pizza (mozzarella, ground parmesan, & ricotta cheeses with basil pesto & Zima grape tomatoes).
