A perpetually bitter Brit who has an odd obsession with making small mod projects that never get finished. I also write from time to time, both for OC stuff and occasional articles about said mod projects.
Said I wanted to try and experiment with this. Turned out that getting the basic framework in place was actually a tad easier than I expected.
This looks a bit more intimidating than it is, as some of these can be knocked out really easily.
Gave the Homing Attack a small boost that I've wanted to give it for a while. It can now lock on to item boxes. My attempts to use raycasts to try and stop it from locking on to something through a solid surface failed miserably though so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Doesn't look like it, as the only references to the colour tag are in basic test stuff it seems like.
Still missing some things (such as Rings to add a bit of life, the balloons for the Homing Attack bit, waterfall ambience and camera zooms in some spots) and the dialogue needs some touching up, but this is the rough flow I THINK I'm settling on for the revamped tutorial.
I don't think this is ever used, but whatever system was used for text colouring in FP2 supports RAINBOW text. So of course I had to apply that to this tutorial text.
This is probably as far as I'll go in terms of actually editing events. In THEORY I could create my own event sequences and load them manually, but that sounds like WAY too much effort and I cannot be bothered to even attempt that (this update has already scope creeped way too hard as it is!)
Hardest part of remaking the tutorial will be... Well two things actually. 1) Making the layout for it out of Green Hill chunks. 2) Writing the text for Omochao to describe Sonic's moves.
Redid the sprite for the Oversaturated achievement, as its not just about the Rocket Wisp any more.
Remembered that Sonic Rush has a few sprites in the Advance style and one of them is perfect.
Bonus Point if you know what I'm referencing by changing the time display changes to "TOO LONG"
The HUD does have a generic fall back for custom characters, though Sonic is a special case, as he gets the Sonic 1 life icon (which I know is a bit weird considering its Advance Sonic but shhhhh).
