Obsessed with these images by Russell Lee, who photographed workers for the Farm Security Administration in the 1930s. The flat, flash-lit, abstract style of these interior shots is eerily modern to my eye.

"The Girl from Rio" (1969). Loopy Jess Franco sci-fi/spy film(?) about a city of women called "Femina". Treacle-slow pace but looks/sounds great (groovy bossa-nova soundtrack). Camp late-60s style reminded me of The Prisoner/Barbarella, or even Holy Mountain at times.

Just watched "Kadaicha", a cute Australian folk-horror from 1988. Teenager Gail's friends are in danger after sharing a dream about a cursed stone. Featuring the "old Indian burial ground" trope, but about Australian colonial genocide rather than US. Starring Zoe Carides from Death in Brunswick
Lucio Fulci's gory fantasy "Conquest" (1983) = peak trash cinema. Conan/Beastmaster ripoff with wolf monsters, laser arrows, plus zombies, why not. Great synth score by Goblin's Claudio Simonetti. Bizarre dialogue: "My enemies call me Mace." "What do your friends call you?" "I have no friends."
