The head on the beers Two Locals Brewing pours are just gorgeous. This is their pilsner.
Kid's service dog has a favorite plush toy that he loves so much Kid bought multiples as backup. Last night Kid gave him a brand new one because the old one was shredded. Dog hasn't stopped playing with it since they got home from Kid's work tonight.
I tried to get #WorldCupSundae no. 5 on the last day, but Spice Waala changes their softserve on Tuesdays & no longer had "cardamom churros over vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate fudge." I got papdi chaat instead
#WorldCupSundae no. 4 was my favorite. The Window at Temple Pastries: Matcha soft serve swirled with strawberry guava sorbet, with miso crumble
The #WorldCupSundae promotion ended yesterday, but here was Sundae #3 from last week. Pastry Project: Team Brazil: Purple vanilla with passionfruit curd and coconut cake
Took the long way home from Bend, OR this weekend. Realized I'd be going by the Stonehenge reproduction on the Columbia River that I'd been wanting to visit for 20+ years. Stopped & walked widdershins around the circles.
Did you ever get to see the Sanrio exhibit at EMP with a Liberty of London suit in a Hello Kitty pattern?
#WorldCupSundae no. 1 of the day Milk Drunk (Team Sweden) - missing the berry mousse because they ran out & I didn't want to wait
Instructions for post-extraction care include salt water rinse of 1 teaspoon salt in "1 glass" of water. No standardized measure or ratio. Both of these household objects are glasses. You see the problem.
Grief & loss are so incredibly hard. My people are big into bringing casseroles when life gets rough. I can't bring one in real life, but please accept this virtual casserole as a sign of support.
Trying a shoumei cave-aged white tea simmered on low heat for an hour. I used way too much & it's very strong. I may end up straining it & diluting it at a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio. Going back to drinking it gong fu style with short 30-second steepings.
Bad news of the day: Have to get a molar extracted. Good news of the day: I got the very last piece of Baron Bigod artisanal Brie-style cheese in the cheese shop.
Today's haul at Street Cheese: a Spanish cow's milk blue cheese, a Basque goat's milk cheese washed with wine, a crottin-style goat's milk cheese from a WA state cheesemaker, & the very last piece of Baron Bigod in the store!
@wsdot.wa.gov Confusing signage at the Colman Ferry Terminal. Permanent sign w arrow telling bikes to turn for entrance is above permanent "Do Not Enter" sign. The directional sign for bikes has you turning into oncoming cars exiting the ferries. Maybe remove the Bicycles sign?
I got to the ferry dock way earlier than I needed to, but with a day like this, that's ok.
Rode my ebike along Lake Washington Boulevard today & there was a whole flock of goslings! Keep the sound off. It's only the noise of cars driving past.
Went to a concert of music from the Tang dynasty & al-Andalus. Instruments were kugo (a type of harp), biwa, & oud, with a few hand drums thrown in.
When I bike home from South Seattle College, I always swing by the boat ramp on the Duwamish River. Yesterday the Mountain was peeking out of the haze.
Nimura also used the event to let people know about the Tacoma organization Write253 that provides books to incarcerated youth in Tacoma's Remann Hall detention facility. People who donated could get a letterpress poster created by Write253 that used quotes from her book. 10/10
One of the things my year in Germany left me with was a liking for Leberkäse & Braunschweiger Leberwurst. While having some Braunschweiger tonight, I discovered from my cat trying to hoist himself up to the table using me as a climbing post that he likes liverwurst too.
The Clarivate booth at ELUNA had tins of mints that have a tabbed lid that makes it hard to open & very difficult to reclose tightly. I feel like this is a metaphor.
