Less than a week after stripping black voters of their voice at the ballot box, TN House Speaker Cameron Sexton has removed every Democrat from their committee assignments. So black Tennesseeans have no voice at the polls & no representation on House committees. Tell me again it ain’t about race.
Memphis Rep. Justin Pearson being blocked from entering a TN State Senate hearing room as a committee works to redraw congressional maps. Reminiscent of George Wallace standing in the door to deny entry to black students at the University of Alabama. This is white supremacy in action.
Lord in thy mercy, please let the suffering be immense and endless. Grant unto him restlessness, fear, and unwavering discomfort. Bestow on him the same level of grace and mercy that he bestowed on the least among us. Amen.

An icon that a lot of folks may not know, but I think gets really overlooked is Tallulah Bankhead (1902-1968). She was an actress from Alabama, and a member of the politically prominent Bankhead family. Her father was Speaker of the House, and her grandfather and uncle were US Senators.
