Another example of some supported housing providers taking the... proverbial. Off Northfield high street. It's unlawful to advertise on public property without permission. Reported. Here are some reviews of the company - Midland Housing Rooms Ltd - the number links to.
Speaking at a residents' meeting about a mismanaged Supported Exempt Accommodation (SEA) that has made life hell. There is a rising public scandal around SEAs, particularly in Birmingham. The housing provider - Reliance - didn't see fit to attend or send a statement, despite being invited.
Warm support for @bevcraig.bsky.social in Heaton Moor. And we even felt a spot of rain 🙏
Luke Johnson, the Tories' star witness against the Employment Rights Bill (now Act), speaks
A lot of people have been in touch about the Bristol Road potholes. Reform claimed repairs were 'pencilled in' for August, but it turns out that was 'speculative' according to the roads contractor. I've chased Birmingham City dozens over times over the last few months to get a real solution.
Really pleased for my friend Anneliese Midgley. She will be an outstanding Chief Whip.
Beautiful service earlier for Carole Griffiths, former Longbridge Councillor and Chair of Birmingham Northfield Labour Party. Rest in peace.
Great to be back in Greater Manchester today in support of the great @bevcraig.bsky.social with a fab team from Birmingham Northfield
Had a great time with the family at Kings Norton Festival. All proceeds go to the upkeep of St Nicholas Church.
Really good to catch up with @richardparkerwm.bsky.social to talk about the future of local bus services, economic investment, and the need to extend the city's tram network.
Brilliant news that seven more schools in Birmingham Northfield are getting funded free breakfast clubs from September
Really enjoyed visiting Hawkesley Church Primary Academy and meeting staff and students. A disused part of the school is going to be refurbished over the summer, funded through the Government's School Based Nursery programme. Looking forward to visiting again!
Well, this helps explain why Farage has gone into political hiding. Just how many more undeclared dark money donations were there?
Back on the campaign trail with @gmb.org.uk @gmbmidlands.bsky.social in Makerfield today. Fingers crossed for the result.
Raising Birmingham road and pavement safety issues in Parliament over the last week👇
Since 2016, Birmingham Pathfinder has worked with local schools to offer a different way through for families when they need support. Long-term, non-judgemental, and able to navigate different public agencies to find lasting answers. (1/2)
Don't call them protestors. Don't say they have legitimate concerns. This is hate abetted by far-right international voices who want break our society. And it demands an assertive response.
Good to see old friends at GMB Congress in Blackpool yesterday, and to get back out on the doorstep in Makerfield. Encouraging responses, including from people who made their mind up to vote Labour after watching the Question Time hustings.
What a mess. One of Northfield constituency's new Reform councillors voted for the Lib Dems to take Birmingham's leadership over her own party. The sole Workers Party councillor voted for the Tories.
My favourite Jenkinsism is this cameo in Alan Walters's diaries. Privatise British Rail to 'get wages down since everyone wants to drive a train.' www.margaretthatcher.org/document/137...
Great (if baking) day canvassing for @andyburnham.bsky.social in Makerfield.
When the Labour Party's founders visited Bournville - and George Cadbury was a guest speaker at the Labour Representation Committee's conference.
I used Business Questions to draw attention to the scandal of poor quality and poorly-regulated houses converted into Supported Exempt Accommodation (SEAs). While some SEAs provide meaningful support, at their worst SEAs are a by-word for exploitation and crime. It's time for proper regulation.
Polls are open for another nine hours. It's investment with Labour or division under Reform. If you can vote today, vote Labour.
Out early this morning to vote for Esther Rai - Labour's hard-working and effective councillor for Northfield Ward.
Thank you to everyone who's joined us so far on the doorstep this bank holiday weekend. I'm so proud of Labour's candidates and activists who are taking on Reform's attempt to divide our communities.
It was an absolute privilege to be invited to help open Allsee Technologies's new centre on the West Works site. The LED signs-maker sells its products all over the world. It's a real vote of confidence in Longbridge and Birmingham that they chose to invest millions to build the new facility here.
Out delivering for Esther Rai, Labour's candidate and councillor for Northfield ward.
