I told my friend that I've never been satisfied with a painting I've done of my cats, maybe I'll be happy with this one. This was her response.
Very slowly trying to get back into oils. Starting a small painting of this guy. He was unnervingly interested…
Started drawing with acrylic markers on rocks with my 4 year old. Guess what movies we’ve been watching.
Just having my giant cat lie down in front of the video game I’m playing where I’m a cat so he can cat while I cat.
“What’s up with this weather being cold, I wanted to go for a swim…”
I think he likes the 4 year old’s princess tent more than she does. Yes, buddy, you are a princess. 👑
@justindonaldson.bsky.social appreciation post! He's an amazing artist, travelling the country with his family, painting as he goes! He updates his Instagram the most, but it's been definitely helping with the 'man I wish I could travel, look at that...' His account is super feel good vibes.
He’s managed to park his 24 lb butt to stop me from seeing anything or doing anything productive on the computer. His life is so hard, guys. We don’t even know. 🥺
A landscape piece I did to remind myself that when things calm down this summer what I want to work on...
Reference Photo for one of my paintings. I miss creating the fun setups!
Probably the last landscape painting I did! I need to do another one soon.
Throwback Thursday to a self portrait that I stopped towards the end decided to be silly instead.
A cropped zoom of an oil painting I did ages ago, when I really felt I was getting portraiture. That dragon went through so many iterations though....
This painting was really fun to get some exercise painting scarring. I hope I did it justice! This is Kole from the novels by Parris Sheets! www.parrissheetsauthor.com
"Helm of Victory" painting I did. I wish I had a hat that would guarantee victory if I put it on. Pretty sure @brucedraws.bsky.social has one, but it only works on his head.
"Study Time." I have a test today. I'll make some tea. It'll be fine...
Some portrait practice awhile ago when I was trying to keep things short and effective.
I had so many ideas for illustrating something from Duma Key by @stephenking.bsky.social. My mentor at the time kept rightfully telling me I needed to stop illustrating the climax of the story, though. Ah well. I had fun. :)
The Queen of Cups tarot card a sign that you should be mindful of how you treat yourself and others or to treat people with compassion and sympathy. You may be more sensitive than you let on to the outside world. This card can also indicate a tendency to daydream and a big imagination.
Here's my cockatoo gryphon I made...I want his energy today. Cute, but with a beak powerful enough to bite you if necessary.
Real life is a bit terrifying at the moment, so I'm going to post this exercise I did and try not to think about it. I love painting portraits.
3 year old conversations: "Mama if a dragon wants to come in and get you, I have a sword and can fight it! Baba has a sword too! But you don't have a sword!" "...Hey, I can still fight too!" She responds with a skeptical look. Have some of my sword paintings <3
Took a road trip to Portland with my 3 year old daughter, to visit one of my very best friends in Portland. She’s been listening great at home, seeming like this was a good idea. This picture was a good summary. Intense defiance and mischief. But the 🌸 were pretty.
...It's strange that my most giant (24 lbs), most cowardly cat insists on yowling into the void from 5 am-7 am and is quiet the rest of the day.
