This is Sue the dinosaur. Sue once had a head, but my doodle Sasha ripped her throat open. I repaired the tear, and Sasha proceeded to completely decapitate Sue. Now Sasha refuses to play with Sue. 🤷♀️
19. The 7.5 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. This book is what you would get if you asked Agatha Christie to write a Quantum Leap episode that was a mash-up of Memento and Groundhog Day. I’m impressed by the accomplishment, but it wasn’t an easy read.
18. Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann. *Very* different both tonally and plot-wise from the recent Sheep Detectives adaptation. The rare instance where I think I actually preferred the film.
On our whale watching trip out of Provincetown today we saw about 15 humpbacks including this one who was FLIPPER SLAPPING!

17. The Lighthouse Witches by C.J. Cooke. Apparently I'm on a bit of a gothic horror bender at the moment.
16. What do you get if you mix a Sherlock & Watson-esque duo, a dash of is-it-or-is-it-not-supernatural mystery, and a 17th century adventure on the high seas? The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton.

15. Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant. I saw this described as "Jurassic Park but with mermaids" and that's honestly pretty accurate, although the abruptness of the ending was more reminiscent of The Andromeda Strain. Still, a fun page-turner.
14. A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly. A solid coming of age story set against the backdrop of the rich & poor in the 1906 Adirondacks.
In 2025 I ran & was elected to School Committee in my town. Sometimes municipal gov.t can be dull, and there aren’t a ton of ‘perks.’ But last night I got to hand out diplomas at the HS graduation ceremony & honestly, it was really affecting.
