Ending the night by putting my electric blanket back on my bed. With a book. Not too bad this week.
Totally unrelated to anything going on in my life or work right now, but I've been lucky to work with a number of authors over the years and I think Aida Salazar is one of the most inspiring, kind, and special people I've had the opportunity to share space with.

My granddaughter is 15 months and can color, speak in full sentences, and is almost potty trained. Her papi is usmc (the most socialist system in the US) and her mami is able to be home with her full time. She also goes to FREE childcare on base. Don't say this can't be done in nyc or anywhere else.
It has said 1 minute... for several minutes now. 10 minutes to be exact.
It is 6° outside. There is nowhere that we need to go. Me and this very delicate, older lady are going to read a book.
Structured study hall really is one of the best things I've added to our 12th grade curriculum.
Today's bulletin board- everybody was in their seat and ready by the end of soft start. My poor, broken brain felt so good.
Moving home to avoid the loneliness of nyc lockdown and spending the summer reading in the hammock with my childhood dog. She would lay her little head over the edge to bark at the squirrels. She went over the rainbow bridge that summer and I cherish every moment I got with her.
Maybe it's me being petty, but I've started putting the exact time down to the second that shared reading will take.

A reading update that nobody asked for- i love it so much but also there is a stomach churning, gross scene about every 50 pages but im so invested in Roman, Neveah, and Dante that i keep going.
Something I've been working on with the youths. 8 more of these in progress for different books on their high school reading journeys.
A few hints for you- it is art and book joy and community. All of the things that got me to this blessed position in the first place. More soon.
Last fall and winter if you were in my close friends story on IG you had to listen to me whine, wail, and worry over "The Secret Project." If you weren't, well it was the Flag Award. And hey, we made it y'all. Not even in my wildest, most delulu teacher dreams. Yet, here I am.
Hispanic Heritage month books that I shared with our PTA. We made book club sets in English and Spanish so families could read together
Our December toy giveaway featured a wrapped book for every child to take home for the holidays. We also had books for parents in English and Spanish

Teacher outfit 3/180 Not what I planned. Couldn't find my black cardigan, so I wore this weird shirt from my donate/giveaway pile hoping it would give Y2K/The Craft vibes.
Day 1/180 I immediately changed into jeans and a t-shirt after orientation, but I did my best.
