The cords were cut off at the base when I found them. I bought fabric-wrapped cords, and I rewired them and added new LED bulbs. Voilá!
Sometimes you have to take a broken thing and make it work. I am led to believe that these mantle lamps were in my great-grandmother's house around the time of the Depression. So they're around a hundred years old, and made it to the next Depression. 😒
I have nothing to add to the hellscape... so I try to add little human things, just for variety. Autumn is so beautiful in the PNW, and I feel better (in a certain way) after cleaning gutters and trimming cedar boughs before the rains come. Here are the last roses of the season:
My Ambient Weather station dew point topped out at 57 degrees today in SE Seattle. The other units in my neighborhood are saying the same.
Seattle Public Schools has canceled all afternoon and evening activities today, due to the weather forecast. All buildings closed at 5pm. Cancellations include the Board Community Engagement meeting at Rainier Beach HS.
I think this is the highest barometer reading I've seen since I got the weather station a few years ago... (S Seattle) #wawx
We've had power flickers, but doing okay this morning. Neighbors who aren't on this line going straight to the substation are still out. (S Rainier Beach) The migraine came in while I was sleeping... #wawx
Ooo, I think it's pink/red aurora... Easier seen with the lens than with my eyes. Saw another image taken in Shoreline tonight, and the color matches.
