The thing where Netflix has gamed search engine optimization to present at the top of “[movie title] streaming” results EVEN FOR MOVIES NOT ON THEIR PLATFORM is extremely annoying. Really hammers home the “nothing worth watching” mental frame I’ve developed for their husk of an app.
Actually maybe this conversation between DOJ lawyers is accurately predicted the shambolic husk that is the current Department
I wonder if Bezos & all the advertisers on Prime Video thought this through - having the archival death camp footage from Judgment at Nuremberg interrupted by Benson Boone trying to sell me headphones is discordant to say the least.
Also, I see now why they banned smoking in movies - sometimes doing it looks cool as hell.
Shame pardon power probably means we’ll be denied justice, but maybe they’ll forget to pardon the uniformed folks the same way Biden peeps forgot to commute military death row.
2 thoughts: 1. Dan’s estimate of “100s or 1000s of named defendants” probably overestimates size of strike cell/kill chain for Joint Task Force Sea Murders. 2. Ample precedent for conducting war crimes trials of “100s or 1000s of named defendants.”
Been on this jihad for a while now. Almost all the Honolulu cops drive unmarked/personal subsidized vehicles, but since they basically never work traffic it buffs out.
As someone living in Hawaii without a Hawaii birth certificate, happy to leave the “gotta be born here to belong here” discourse to the New Yorkers.
At least it’s consistent? The legs on the anatomical chart also look reversed.
Peacetime is a year in prison. Combat zone (37 USC 310 is combat pay) is 10 years in prison. Soldiers in Kuwait make combat pay today. During time of declared war, the punishment for dozing off can be death.
Fun fact: falling asleep on guard duty is one of those crimes that does not exist in the civilian world, but is taken incredibly seriously by military law. Right now, in 2026, the American military's max punishment for a soldier dozing off on guard during war is death.
He also sent one of his phony passports to Edward Snowden care of Putin, so that’s cute.
AI slop merchants seem to have stumbled onto military death row. Either they’re mixing up their Afro-American inmates or they don’t know that a Sergeant isn’t an Officer - pictures are Akbar & description is closest to facts in Akbar, but Hasan is only Officer on death row.
When you have to bring your own Person Tube *and* snacks, something is deeply f-d with air travel.
Totally functional job market we’ve got here. I feel like the *job application* should “tell hiring teams you’re really interested.” Shouldn’t need a franchise tag to get your resume reviewed.
Congress didn’t create the program that way, tho - it covers both “responders” & “survivors.” Even if he doesn’t qualify as a responder, he can join the 40% of beneficiaries who don’t. Again, Rudy suuuuucks but seems to qualify for healthcare under this scheme.
“American civilization has grown too far toward the creating and too far away from the giving. It'll adjust later on. It'll have to. Men will go mad from too much getting. They always have in the past." - J. Michener, Tales of the South Pacific
Depends - there’s a factory sales program to buy/operate new US-spec cars from a couple euro brands, but used cars are absolutely gonna be EU spec.
Post a random cool car photo you took on another year, with no explanation.
This isn’t unusual - of the (existing) MDTFs, only 1st is together at one base. 3d & 2d are both split stationed - HQ & effects Bns forward (Hawaii + Germany), fires battalions stationed CONUS, constant rotations for presence/exercises to maintain credible deterrent in theater.
Forces permanently stationed bring families, buy cars, have mandatory Local National hiring under Status of Forces agreements. Big €€€ impact. Cutting deterrent deployments/exercises with NATO still hurts, but the headlines make it seem like gonna be tumbleweeds blowing across Patch Barracks.
Some of this seems like fuzzy math - 2MDTF Long Range Fires Battalion was always going to be based at Fort Drum with *rotations* to Europe. I think they’re counting cuts to exercise deployment/rotational forces, which while still bad is different from cutting forces permanently based forward.
