I make flags out of Lego, but they’re not very good
#Glasgow2026 Then it was over to the gymnastics for the women’s #CommonwealthGames individual all-around final. Gold 🥇 went to Ellie Black of #Canada, silver 🥈 to Breanna Scott of #Australia and bronze 🥉 to Lia-Monica Fontaine, also of #Canada 🇨🇦🇦🇺
My first #CommonwealthGames event at #Glasgow2026 today was 3x3 basketball and wheelchair 3x3, with the competing teams including the #CaymanIslands, #Guyana and #Kenya 🇰🇾🇬🇾🇰🇪
Enjoying the #CommonwealthGames opening ceremony, especially the discovery that #Nauru has become #Naoero. I’ll be there in a couple of days! (The Commonwealth Games, not Naoero) 🇳🇷
Right then, the 103rd game of the tournament is #SPAARG in the #LegoFlagsWorldCup final. #Spain is the champion on the strength of its colour combination (it’s the two different yellows that does it for me), but it might have been a different story if the sun on #Argentina had its smiley face 🇪🇸🇦🇷
As it happens, I went to two football matches today - both much more significant than anything that may or may not be happening in Miami #notpointless #notfarce #notpointlessfarce
The second #LegoFlagsWorldCup semi-final is #ENGARG. They’ve both lost games in getting to this stage, but the sun with a smiley face (not visible in Lego form) of #Argentina clearly beats #England 🏴🇦🇷
I feel like I’ve said something along these lines before, but there’s plenty of red on display in the #FRASPA clash at the #LegoFlagsWorldCup and it’s #Spain with the win over #France, which frankly was fortunate to get this far 🇫🇷🇪🇸
Yet more sad news: after careful consideration, the palaeontologist has decided NOT to endorse our park 😢🇳🇿

It’s Europe v Europe again with #NORENG at the #LegoFlagsWorldCup, and I’m feeling cross - but Nordic cross or symmetrical cross? For once I’m giving the victory (in a low-quality contest) to #England, such is the eyesore quality of misproportioned #Norway 🇳🇴🏴
There’s plenty of red and yellow on display in the #SPABEL clash at the #LegoFlagsWorldCup and it’s #Spain with the win over #Belgium, which frankly was fortunate to get this far 🇪🇸🇧🇪
The #LegoFlagsWorldCup is getting serious now, but to be honest I’m not massively impressed with the selection of flags that have made it this far. #FRAMAR is the first quarter-final and sees #Morocco beat #France by virtue of featuring something other than stripes 🇫🇷🇲🇦

I’m afraid to say that #Austria is absolute dishwater and would lose to any other #LegoFlagsWorldCup opponent, but #Spain is a worthy winner of #SPAAUT in any case 🇪🇸🇦🇹
#USABIH is a high-quality, star-filled meeting worthy of a later stage of the #LegoFlagsWorldCup. The victory goes to #BosniaHerzegovina for its uniqueness, but #USA can feel hard done by 🇺🇸🇧🇦
You might think I’d award #LegoFlagsWorldCup progression to #Senegal in #BELSEN, but that circular star is so disgraceful that I’m giving it to #Belgium 🇧🇪🇸🇳
