I have a sudden urge to put together a calendar or some other sort of merch for sale of birds in Chicago & call it “Birbs In Horto”.
Stood on my porch listening to the tornado sirens with my neighbors doing the same thing
Look at this absolute unit. #birds (Cooper’s Hawk just outside of Lincoln Park Zoo)
Speaking of Chicago Theatre things I bought this sheet music because Helen, the organist pictured on the front, married Jesse Crawford, organist of the Chicago. Jesse was already married when he met Helen; he left his wife for her. Jesse & Helen married in 1923, & this music came out in early 1924
They are in fact unicorns 🦄🦄🦄 Why? Because unicorns are magic? There can only ever be one Chicago Theatre? B&K are fantastical & mystical & above all other theatre chains? Take your pick of symbolism, I think.
I had a great time playing Killing Joke’s Extremities album with Martin Atkins & co this weekend. Been a while since I have played live, but certainly feel like I am being towards it more once again. More music again please!
Look at these cool MUSHROOMS! Made my morning. 🍄🍄🟫🍄🍄🟫🍄🍄🟫🍄🍄🟫🍄🍄🍄🟫 Anyone know what kind they are? There are so many! #mushrooms #fungi #chicagomushrooms
A Piping Plover chick from last Sunday! I believe this is Ferris, though I’m not positive. They were all over Montrose Beach looking for breakfast in the sand. #pipingplovers #montrosebeach #montrosebirdsanctuary #birds
This felt super high yesterday which is both good and scary. #flyingtrapeze #circus
Black Crowned Night Heron. I just want to hold one of these bad boys; they look so smooth and soft! (I would never actually try to hold one). This is Myron and he’s annoyed at the lack of fish in the river. 📍River Park, Chicago IL #blackcrownednightheron #chicago #birds 🪶
A Green Heron shaking it off at the Chicago River from earlier this month. His name is Herb the Heron. #greenheron #chicagoriver #riverpark #birds 🪶🪶
This is either the Death of Birds, or a molting red winged blackbird. (He’s definitely Death for Birds. 💀⚰️☠️🪦🗡️🪶🐦⬛🪶🐦⬛🪶🐦⬛🐦⬛🪶 #redwingedblackbird #moltingredwingedblackbird #moltingbird #montrosebirdsanctuary #chicago #birds
I’m so excited about this shot! Had my camera in place just as the barn swallow swooped in towards the young ones, who started demanding food. So cool! #montroseharbor #birds #barnswallow 🪶🪶🪶
First time flying indoors in a couple of months. Yay for out of lines catches!
A Spotted Sandpiper nervously eyeing a Peregrine Falcon that just landed on the tower at Montrose. He was sounding the alarm and bouncing his butt up and down. #spottedsandpiper #birds #montrosebirdsanctuary 🪶

“TAKE A LOOK AT THESE TALONS!” Peregrine Falcon at Montrose Beach today. The black band on top says “30” and the blue band has an “E”. Anyone know how to find out info on this dude? #peregrinefalcon #montrosebirdsanctuary #birds 🪶🪶🪶
One of the Piping Plover chicks laying flat in the sand. This was when a Peregrine Falcon had landed nearby— all the birds were fluting & piping alerts. I am assuming this was a defensive/hide position from the chick due to the falcon. #montrosebirdsanctuary #birds #pipingplover 🪶
Great Blue Heron over at River Park. I’m so excited about this shot; I love his head feathers trailing behind in the wind! (This is Rogers, by the way. He got the full portrait package) #greatblueheron #riverpark #birds 🪶
A Great Blue Heron at River Park today. What a BEAUTY! 😍😍😍 (His name is Rogers) #bird #greatblueheron 🪶
