New post up on the site! I wrote a little bit about why Avatar Legends feels so refreshing in the landscape of fighting games today. Link in replies!
Since it's been a couple of days, I just wanted to say that I handled the Avatar situation in probably the worst way imaginable, and I apologize. It doesn't matter what my intentions were; I should have just kept my mouth shut until we had all the facts. Below you can read my further thoughts.
Pretty huge find during production of the GBA video - a complete-in-box copy of Astro Boy: Omega Factor. One of my favourite games on the console, and as a huge Astro Boy and Osamu Tezuka nut - being able to own this forever is a delight. The EB Games sticker is annoying, but nostalgic.
Update from recording for the GBA video: Finally started playing the ORIGINAL Chain of Memories. It's crazy to me how much more enjoyable the card system is in its original form. The PS2 remake is a hodge-podge of two completely disparate games, but this one is incredibly fun. Hard to put down.
Still working on the GBA video, but I've been playing Avatar Legends with my friends and I am losing my mind over how fun this game is. This was a dream game of mine, and playing it for myself, AND seeing the awesome interactions, combos and little details on social media has been magical.
It's time for another console retrospective! This time, I'd like you all to let me know what some of your favourite Game Boy Advance games are. It doesn't matter how obscure; I will look into as many as I can!
Working on personal projects while on break, and I've gravitated towards Radiohead while I write. OK Computer deserves its flowers - insanely prescient album that remains relevant today - but In Rainbows is ALSO one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Crazy how Radiohead made a few of those.
New post up on the site: A review of Dynasty Warriors Origins, a game that provided me with the most fun I've had with a Musou game since 2014's Hyrule Warriors Link below!
Thank you to everyone who showed up for my panel and signing. I have never done anything like that before, but the turnout and support was beyond what I could have expected. Multiple people told me they made the trip out specifically to say hi to me. I'm honoured. Thank you for an amazing day!!!
New video! The Shantae series is a labour of love. This video is my labour of love to the series. Link in replies!
The Shantae video is finally complete! Mostly. Just need to add music and fix a few things, and it'll be up on Nebula tomorrow! YouTube either Thursday or Friday, I'm not sure I want to release a video on the same day as GTA 6 pre-orders going live.
On a whim, decided to rewatch Season 1 of Wakfu over the past week. Haven't seen it since I was like 14. The season starts off rough, but it comes into its own. A surprisingly emotional take on the hero's journey and an INCREDIBLE love letter to Japanese animation with stunning art direction.
I usually never get all of the achievements in games, but I decided to make a few exceptions recently. Doing this for Shantae and the Pirate's Curse was long overdue on my part. I love this game so much.
LOL reminds me of when in DQV, the Hero's daughter Tabitha 「タバサ」 was renamed "Madchen" in the English DS version. MADCHEN. I guess "Tabitha" was too normal??
Yep, it's three hours. I somehow wrote a three hour video about Shantae. I compared it to Zelda, I talked about dungeon and level design, I talked about art direction and technical stuff. One thing led to another, and now I have a three-hour video. Oopsies! Teehee! It'll be out sometime next week.
i hope i can write something a quarter as good as mother 3 someday
I really need to cut this thing down. The Shantae video might end up being three hours long. What is wrong with me? Why do I have to enjoy video games like this?
New post on the site regarding the games industry's continued adoption of generative AI, my fears, and a message to those that want to create, in spite of everything. Check the replies for a link to the article. (Pic related)
