The 52 studies on which this analysis is based have different designs and methodologies, Gualano acknowledges. Regarding the absence of trans women in elite sports, Gualano is emphatic: “That gap exists because, to begin with, there are hardly any trans women competing.”

Only one transgender woman has ever participated in the Olympic Games: Laurel Hubbard at Tokyo in 2020. In the weightlifting competition, she failed all three of her snatch attempts and did not win a medal. After the Olympic Games, following an intense campaign of harassment, she announced her retirement from the sport. She is likely the first and last transgender athlete to participate.

Many public libraries have systems that let you search the entire states' collection so with that I began to match DVD names to their episode listings using the Dora the Explorer wiki and made a spreadsheet to ensure I didn't borrow more than I needed as many episodes are on multiple DVDs.

Makes me think of an article I read in grad school regarding neutrality in librarianship: davidlankes.org/category/pre...

First, we must realize that it is impossible to be neutral. Putting a book on a shelf or in a vault is a choice. Every day in archives and special collections we make professional determinations of how accessible an item is versus how protected it is. We can seek out many voices and yes, gather data, to make those decisions, but in the end, they are decisions with consequences. Pretending we are neutral doesn’t change the consequences, it only allows us to pretend they are not the result of our action.

Now, I keep calling them biases, but a better word would be principles. Principles are an explicit statement of belief. They should be transparent and, most importantly, able to be assessed. Are we following our principles?

And make no mistake principles are not neutral. Seeking to serve all equitably takes effort and resources. Choosing to provide images for fee or free is a choice. Fighting censorship is a decision. If you don’t think so, try balancing it against issues of hate speech and threats to marginalized communities.

This Digital Circus ending got weird.

Season 3 Episode 01 of Yo Gabba Gabba. The episode, Circus, features the usual friends of Muno, Fufa, Brobee, Tutti, and Plex dressed up for performing in the circus including DJ Lance and also Weird Al is there.

I want my own version of the Caldecott Award, which is the award given to the children's book with outstanding illustration yearly. But it's like a dude on a horse running from dogs and geese and shit.

This illustration is a scene derived from Randolph Caldecott's front cover illustration for The Diverting History of John Gilpin (Routledge, 1878, an edition of the 1782 poem by William Cowper), which depicts John Gilpin astride a runaway horse.
