I read a lot of links; I post a lot of links. Mostly special collections, archives, libraries, museums, history, & technology. (#GLAM). I teach in an MLIS program at [redacted]. Does not represent my employer. #RBMS26
Wandered by the @librarycongress.bsky.social booth just in time to hear about how they used IRENE to digitize the flexidisc in Amelia Earhart's autobiography. U. Iowa has this book and I have been wanting to hear the recording for more than 10+ years since I first saw it. #alaac26
There are a lot of pirates at the Des Moines Public Library this evening!

I've been doing some research that all is set in 1971/1972. It shouldn't catch me by surprise, but it did. This headline. Was "news."
Me: "I'll take a 10 min break from grading and watch a video or two." First video: Laminate all of your grandmother's recipe cards, it's the best option. /cry /cry /cry
This is indeed what I contain. Maybe not the last one. (Democratic Ladies Cookbook from the Democratic Women's Club of Johnson County, IA, 1965.)

What the heck? This is one of the main tools I use in PowerPoint because the search function works better than the main search tool. WHY????
Millie's daughter Peggy bequeathed her mother's collection of every book she had ever written to the Iowa Women's Archives (and one of her typewriters!) in 2013. You can read about that here: www.lib.uiowa.edu/iwa/mildred/...
I got to have Henry Booklobster out in my class today! Thé, Robert, and Bradley Smith. [Henry Booklobster]. Kingston, N.Y.]: [the artist], 2010.

The view for the New Members Mixer and the scholarship breakfast at #rbms26 is pretty spectacular. #Milwaukee
It's not what I was looking for in the journal I was searching, but this ad from 1999 does make it clear how much things have changed.
I gasped when I saw this item (1710-1711?) for sale today from Dean Cooke Rare Books on Ex Libris. The second photo is Francis Smith Medical Recipe book that I had out in class this morning at U. Iowa (1704). I didn't expect to see one so similar! Are these common? Have you ever seen one before?
Surprising information in the inscription, and a preservation treatment. 📜 blog.thepreservationlab.org/2025/09/a-ti...
The public library bookmobile is parked on the medical campus today. I love this so much! Everyone should have easy access. 📚
