On tough days, I look at this ship passenger list, and if my great-grandmother can travel in ship steerage, by herself, with three boys ages 3, 2 and 6 months, I'm pretty sure my problems are small in comparison. #genealogy
This is the '50th' Wedding Anniversary invitation. I really think my great-grandparents gaslit their entire new world family into thinking that they were married before they had kids & didn't run off together, but I think they DID. Can you imagine being them at the party and just knowing the truth?
So the extremely interesting thing abt this birth record is the notation of her marriage being in 1919. They had 2 kids together in 1914 & 1915. I had seen the 1919 marriage date in a naturalization form, thought it was typo, b/c they celebrated their ‘50th’ anniversary in 1963. Oh boy… #genealogy
Luna is mad at me. The mornings I am home, I usually open up the deck door and let the kitties listen to the birds a little. Not today. Air not safe. For kitties too.
Husband is with 15yo at softball tournament near Youngstown. I knew immediately where this team HAD to be from. Own what you’re known for, am I right?
"Kissing Girls on Shabbat" by Sara Glass is one of the best queer memoirs I've ever read. #pride #pridemonth #booksky
My quest to visit all 50 died down when we started taking some cruises and dipping our toes into international travel. But let me tell you, I know that stretch of I-80 through those states I've lived in *very* well.
Watching games on GameChanger really appeals to my GenX sensibilities. It’s like old-school Nintendo baseball. Don’t need much else.
"6 Times We Almost Kissed (And One Time We Did)" is a sapphic YA novel abt 2 girls whose moms are BFFs, but they...aren't. The cover looks like its a carefree rom-com, but it deals w/ organ donation, death of a parent, toxic parenting, and disability. REALLY well-written. #pride #pridemonth
"Hijab Butch Blues" by Lamya H is a memoir by a queer hijabi Muslim immigrant. The author uses stories and characters from the Quran to paint a picture of her own identity and there is a hopefulness throughout the book that whispers, "I belong." #Pride #PrideMonth
Today's choice is "The Red Winter" by Cameron Sullivan. Historical Beast / Monster Slayer story. Really good character development. A snarky demon. And a tragic love story. #Pride #Pridemonth
For my next installment, I submit, "Cantoras" by Caro De Robertis. This novel follows the lives of five queer women, starting in 1977 Uruguay and continuing through 35 years. I adore this book. #pride #pridemonth
First one up is the book I'm currently reading. "Rules for Ghosting" by Shelly Jay Shore features a Jewish trans man, his family & friends (great characters!), some ghosts & a romantic interest. I'm really enjoying it so far. Did I mention his family runs a funeral home? #pride #pridemonth #booksky
Idk where I fall on the Catholic spectrum anymore (or if I’ve fallen off it completely), but this Letter is going to be a MUST READ for everyone. Leo about to drop some straight up truths in this and I have a feeling that the dude is NOT gonna mince words on this subject.
This is my perfect ballpark weather. Sunny, not hot. Day game. #goguards #guardians
Pic doesn’t do it justice but this was one of the most vivid rainbows I’ve ever seen.
This baby child is at prom tonight. 😭 Fun fact: Took this photo on a FILM camera. I held onto film later than a lot of people.
This book is so disappointing. I’m 77% done so I have to finish it but I never thought it would be so boring.
My grandmother's high school diploma from 1936. Her parents were poor Polish immigrants and she was the 1st in her family to graduate from high school. I just love the font and #artdeco drawings. It's a work of art. #Cleveland #familyhistory
She would go. Infiltrate the inner cabal. Seduce the right person and just like that we would have the full Epstein files released.
Why don’t we have dance halls anymore as a society? We’re waiting for show choir awards to start and there’s an impromptu (but organized) dance party going on and this is what teens need. It’s pure fun and exercise and socialization.
Happy Valentines Day from the skull of St. Valentine himself at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Cosmedin.
