These photos can’t capture how many times I seam ripped and re-sewed my coutil layers until they lined up properly…but I did it. Instead of bias or twill tape boning channels, I did the “sandwich method” and sewed my channels between the 2 layers. 28 bones later this thing is a BEAST.
I don’t even remember when this happened but my corset has officially received the blood sacrifice
so many dye adventures…but I’m finally at a point with the silk fabric & both laces that I’m happy with. The patterned silk fabric underwent SO many test swatches before I landed on a combination of teas + tiny splash of taupe Rit. The brown lace is Close Enough.
Yall I— After all that— I don’t need a hoopskirt at all This bitch is too fluffy on its own
Corset will be 4 layers total…1 flat lined coutil (with that fun soft cotton) + 1 coutil sandwiched for the boning channels, plus a floating cover. First busk installation ever and despite it being a little scary it went well!
I ultimately didn’t bc I look like this on leg day but…maybe another time
Petticoats are suffering but they are so satisfying to make extra fluffy. Bottom layer is nylon crinoline (1 layer per tier), top layer is in progress and is a holy hell of a lot of tulle (1 top layer, 2 middle layers, 4 lower layers) to soften the overall silhouette
Also 007 first light is REALLY fun and idk how gamer bros are mad about her bc look at this cutie!!!!!

To make the somewhere-between-A-line-and-bell silhouette I knew I’d need a hoop plus a petticoat to maintain its shape. Kaede’s waist is proportionally tiny, so I ended up drawing the general shape on myself. Hoops are 1/2” flat steel boning with a fabric channel I made from stash + twill tape.
Drafted the corset top using one of the many incredible drafting tutorials on YouTube — Nigerian fashion designers & seamstresses are out there saving lives on a daily basis omg. Mockup before and after alterations— it honestly didn’t need much. I drafted it with reduction + back gap/lacing panel.
Okay I feel like I’ve accumulated enough progress photos to start my Kaede build thread! Initially bought materials for her…many years ago, and now I’m finally making her for Tekko!
