These two threads made me think of an excerpt from a friends essay about growing up on the internet. I feel like it really captures the rape culture described and how it affected people growing up in it. garmore.neocities.org/posts/2026-0...

By becoming sexually available, the youth exposes herself to the proclivities of her peers. The young, queer population of the internet often find themselves in what they like to call, “hard kink”. This has been discussed to death. What went unmentioned in these discussions was their lack of ability to step outside of their kink scenarios. Our youth found herself interacting with 24/7 dominance/submission dynamics without an awareness that this was not expected of her. She watched her peers beg to be beaten and asked herself, “Is this what I’m supposed to want?” Did she have the right to decline? This was queer culture. She either had to participate or leave.

Mod of trans discord gets called out in a chat where I’m trying to address transmisogyny in the server by using the dogwhistle “transwoman”

Mod keeps bringing up specific person who I keep emphasizing my issue is not with him but the rhetoric others used in response and the hostility of the mod response to me calling it out

Several days ago I made the call that they weren’t going to read what I was saying and engage in good faith.

That they would keep making up new points to argue unrelated to anything I said.

Then I would eventually get angry or misspeak and be punished.

3 days later they proceed to do exactly that.
