My overarching aesthetic is "Accidentally arrived at the French Embassy junket at the same moment as an international tragedy," and that has finally spilled outdoors.
Friends, the squirrels have finally realised that the white strawberries are actually ripe, and they are working in shifts.
I bought myself a birthday present from the wonderful @umanitobapress.bsky.social
The Marsh Marigold is showing undue optimism, considering I haven't refilled the pond yet.
(I don't have the tree kind yet. Here's some from the ground.)
It's my housiversary today, which is a big deal when you are a homebound person like me. (Or a homebound cat, like Z.) The house was built in 1890, and while they only had so much info about it at the archives, I'll still bet this is the first time anyone has grown a 1m tall kale plant in here.
Having intermingled thoughts about the cumulative toll of constant pain, and the successes of high-control groups who have their fingers on the scales of our information ecology, while I stall out and drink gin in the hammock and watch the zucchini grow in real time.
"Excuse me, would it be possible to book your feeder for a genders reveal party?"
Thank you to those who have helped today. Here's a freshly renamed squirrel, shown here wondering how they got roped into this.
When you arrive at the bistro too early, and they haven't even cleared the snow off the tables yet.

I don't love calendar holidays, and the cat and I are the only ones here, but I thought my little potted tree friend might like to dress up a little. The extra twinkles do a real service. I hope that each of you has sufficient extra twinkles on hand, and to your respective tastes. ✨
I'm not sure if this was someone shovelling out their front doorstep, or if a squirrel simply dropped their keys in the snow.
I think I know who sent me this drink from across the garden.
It's a non-native plant, but a neighbour brought me a sunflower sprout back in July to thank me for allowing his kids to display a sign advertising their lemonade stand. This is what it has been doing, and it delights me every day.
Oops, I read the news and I'm full of disappointment and anger! Whoopsies! Here's something more hopeful from my garden. I gave them some pointers on crossing the southern borders on their journey. Burner phone, &c.
