This article explores the effects of researcher pregnancy on conducting research with individuals experiencing homelessness. Using a critical reflexive approach and the existing limited research on pregnancy and fieldwork, experiences from a multi-city project using focus groups are presented. Excerpts from fieldnotes and reflections show that pregnancy has significant effects on the researcher and impacts research-participant interactions. Pregnancy can also lead to reflections of intersectionality and the interactions between faces of the researcher's identities. The researcher's visible pregnancy often helped build rapport and led to personal conversations that left participants feeling more comfortable. Positionality is key to understanding the effects of the researcher on research processes, and the discussion highlights the effects of pregnancy on these complex relationships.

ABSTRACT
Canada’s tax administration is undergoing rapid digital transformation under tight fiscal constraints, yet reforms are still assessed mainly by their cost and revenue impact. We introduce the Marginal Value of Public Funds for Tax Administration (MVPF-TAdmin), a welfare-based framework for measuring the social return per administrative dollar spent. The framework integrates efficiency, equity, and public value into a unified assessment of how administrative design affects tax payers welfare and trust. Using the stylized case study of automatic tax filing, we show how the MVPF-TAdmin increases once accessibility and legitimacy are incorporated alongside efficiency. Automatic filing can yield high social returns by improving access for low-capacity tax filers. The MVPF-TAdmin framework provides policymakers with a practical tool to prioritize administration modernization based on inclusive welfare metrics.

But the reality is that none of that is certain and many experts believe most of it is deeply improbable. “These are policy choices that a future government would have to make,” said Trevor Tombe, an economist and public policy expert at the University of Calgary. “And there's no way to know that separation would lead to a particular kind of government.””
