One of the benefits of being a Port Moody Public Library trustee is that I got the chance to participate in the Summer Reading Club Ceremony. So many children were feeling so proud of all the reading they did. They loved being awarded a medal. One young girl gave me a thank-you note. So sweet!
Hace una semana que regresamos de nuestro viaje por España. Visitamos museos, lugares históricos, y comimos muy rico.
Our ferry from Nanaimo to Vancouver left late last night but in return we got this sunset 🌅
As of tomorrow, I’m officially a Full Teaching Professor at @northeasternu.bsky.social
Big day for our oldest daughter and for the entire family. Something beautiful ends but something exciting begins ❤️
Visitaremos Madrid, Sevilla, y Málaga. Cualquier sugerencia que salga de los lugares típicos para turistas es bienvenida. Gracias ☺️ (Foto de mi último viaje a España)
I got myself a lot of books to improve my teaching. Based on feedback from my peers , my students, and my recent promotion (to full teaching prof) you’d think I know my craft. And I do. But there’s always room for improvement.
My oldest daughter is graduating high school in a couple of weeks. Last night was her “prom.” She has tons of friends, really wonderful kids. We’re so lucky she is a member of this great community.
Gen AI in education is a big mess. We didn’t create this problem, but we have to solve it. I’m experimenting with new ways to teach and assess — and I want to hear what you’re trying too. Professors, students — let’s figure this out together. #highereducation #generativeai
A DNA kit bought out of pandemic boredom sent me down a rabbit hole: genetics 🧬, structural inequality ⚖️, political rhetoric 🎙️ — and completely changed how I think about identity and multiculturalism. #InterculturalEmpathy #Multiculturalism #HigherEducation #Inclusion
2026 marks my second year as a Trustee at the Port Moody Public Library. Lots of exciting things are happening at the library, including a brand new website. It is a modern, user-friendly site featuring an improved events calendar. portmoodylibrary.ca
My daughter travelled from Canada to Mexico to see my parents and they’re taking her to some magical places.
Made this video for the students joining our campus this Fall. #highereducation
Walking in the woods is so relaxing that I need to listen to depressing podcasts to even things out #nature
My daughter and her Coquitlam Metro-Ford soccer team, Pegasus, are the winners of the GU18 Coastal Cup. They are now heading to the Provincial Championship 🏆 (British Columbia).
I had the privilege of chairing a session, delivering a blizzard talk on rethinking "soft skills" in computing education, and facilitating a workshop on media presence for educators. The conversations and feedback I got throughout the event gave me a lot to think about.
My @khourycollege.bsky.social colleagues at @northeasternu.bsky.social (Vancouver) did an amazing job organizing the Western Canada Conference on Computing Education 2026 #WCCCE2026.
I gave a Blizzard Talk at WCCCE 2026 yesterday. I argued that the skills we call "soft" are actually essential (especially in the age of Gen AI). There was no time for a Q&A because... well, it was a blizzard talk 🥺. Slides attached if you're curious. Would love to hear your thoughts. #WCCCE2026
Everyone talks about success but nobody defines it. I decided that I needed to create my own definition of success. I finally have it. Success to me means having this chair (which I don’t). I don’t even have the space for this chair 😅
As of today, I’m the father of an 18-year-old. She’s now an adult in Mexico (and some parts of Canada) but not in BC.
