Worried for the future & the lack of effort in mitigating the climate emergency. Green lefty.
Found this one today. Think it is a Knot Grass Moth caterpillar. So cute! (Thank you Google Lense!)
Bergamot flowering well this year which bees are supposed to like, but really not seeing that many this year.
Found this lime hawk moth caterpillar today! Not at the same place, lots of lime trees here.
Found this dude at work yesterday. Turns out it is a hummingbird hawk moth caterpillar. I was weeding, including the bedstraw it was feeding on. So I stopped weeding that out! Came across another too. Figured if there were 2, there'd be more.
Lots of Gatekeepers loving the marjoram flowers in my mini meadow today. Lovely to see while listening to the grasshoppers and crickets sing. @cathhodsman.bsky.social
Went on a #fungi walk today ... absolutely fascinating. Sorry I don't remember any of the names!
Ate it before I saw your post 🤣 Sourdough toast with peanut butter and banana on top, with a drizzle of honey and a sprinkling of seeds 😋
Looks like you're doing some great work up North! Love it! I'm down in Oxfordshire and already involved in trying increase the biodiversity in a local woodland which has rather a lot of bracken where it should be acid heathland. Current main focus is on the over flailed boundary hedge.
@peterstefanovic.bsky.social Someone seems to be impersonating you. Have reported and blocked.
Dandelions ... Good for insects at any time of the year! Just before I took the photo there were actually 3 insects on it, not 2.
I've got a confused vipers bugloss in flower at the moment! Should be helpful to any bees that are still about in this damp grey weather we're stuck in here.
Oh how wonderful! This is my fave print I have. Can't for the life of me remember the artist (OH made the oak frame and I can't get in it easily to find out!) There is so much tiny detail with a squirrel, owl and hedgehog in there if you look hard enough 💚
A gorgeous bloody nosed beetle. Kept finding squashed ones on paths, so moved this to the side it was heading towards. Look at those feet! 🤩
Good point. Often the question is what is the one thing we can do to help with the #ClimateCrisis, but maybe it should be what should we NOT do. GretaThunberg in The Climate Book
So appreciating where I live today. Such beautiful woods to walk though The sounds, sights and smells of autumn. I could spend hours in there ... but other things to do sadly!
Beautiful Silver Y on Cosmos this afternoon. Have seen one before in the garden but not often. #moths
Life gave me lots of free strawberries. They're not the best but about half of them have made 7 jars of jam. Need more jam sugar to use the rest!
