Author of the forthcoming memoir “We Will Get By”, to be published by Duke University Press. The book details the impacts the carceral state had on me as a young mom & #Deadhead, in the wake of the War on Drugs. #SaveUSDemocracy 🚫🧊 🚫MAGA 🚫DMs
I made 2 of my favorite Moosewood recipes today: tempeh reubens and lemon blueberry poundcake. Both came out spectacular though my icing was a little extra exuberant 😋
I've always associated Sophie's bday w/ blueberries because it's 🫐 season & now I associate it w/ Phish as well because for several years she's seen them on or near her birthday. I was telling her this today at breakfast when I blurted out "And look! There's a giant blueberry on your shirt!" 💙
Happy 28th to my beautiful daughter Sophie! She's got two master's degrees, she's an excellent chef & baker & a kind person. She lives & teaches high school in NYC & loves Phish. What's not to love?!? She's the best ❤️⚡️💙
Saw this shirt at grassroots & asked the kid who/what it refers to, but he didn't know because it's his dad's shirt lol Any deadheads out there know who is in this stealie? ✌️
Two more visitors just popped by: a doe and then her fawn! And yes I'm still sitting here 3 hours later lol
Been a busy morning at the bird feeder. Lots of sparrows, red-winged blackbirds, goldfinches, cardinals, mourning doves, rock pigeons, and a rose-breasted grosbeak hung out singing for a while. There's currently 5 rock pigeons. They're so beautiful. My morning view
Amazing day at Grassroots fest yesterday. Hung out w/my daughter & her friends. Great family vibes. Been going to Grassroots since 2004. ❤️
Great time last night at my friends' wedding celebration. They have an absolutely beautiful home & share this gorgeous property w/a friend. Lots of trails & big trees and hammocks. They are retired, but it's his first marriage & they are so sweet. Felt good to see some happy people in love.
Had a cute lil visitor this morning come through the yard then meet up with mama at my bird feeder 🩵
My eldest daughter turns 35 in a week & that doesn't seem real somehow (pic is from her 1st birthday). Also, she'll be in town so we'll get to have dinner together 💗💗💗
50 years ago. I remember the bicentennial well. My parents loved Fourth of July, but more importantly the ideas of freedom & justice. My dad was a vet & my mom worked for the VA office for many years. I grew up going to the American Legion, parades, etc. My parents would hate Trump & all he's done 🇺🇸
Sooo hot - this was posted on a GD account a few years ago
37 years ago we kicked off #GratefulDead summer tour in Foxboro, MA. These are a few of my pics from the first few shows on the tour. Did the whole tour through Alpine but apparently stopped taking photos early on or I lost the film.
My youngest baby Stella Blue 💙 She turns 9 this summer.
My neighbors moved out today and took my favorite dogs with them. I had the pleasure of dog sitting (and cat sitting!) several times, but they just rolled out into the sunset on their way back to Arizona. It's always sad when good neighbors & dogs move out. Happy for them though.
I took a walk along the Cayuga Waterfront Trail at Stewart Park today. Such beauty. I've love it here since I arrived in 2000. There's a new bird loop too, along the shore of the lake.
Turns out today is 17 years since my daughter graduated high school. Insanity. In this photo I'm only a few years older than she is now. #WALSTIB
Deer Creek '93 I was on the lawn with my lil nugget ❤️⚡️💙
And 33 years ago at Deer Creek w/the little bean ❤️⚡️💙
Thank you. Certainly not perfect but the family that slays together stays together haha (SPAC 2017)
Hahahaha this is my sister that used to beat me up in high school for smoking pot. I hope my text, completely out of the blue since we have no relationship, messed with her head 🫠 Call me petty if you want, but my teens & 20s were extra stressful because of harsh attitudes like hers (& the law)
Taughannock (Tuh-GAN-uck) Falls today ~ we've had consistently beautiful weather this past month. #Ithaca #NewYorkParks
Cleaned up my garden bed this weekend, yanked all the grass out by hand, carried & spread about 6 buckets of mulch. Today a frog joined me so I put out some planter dishes to collect water for him. He was so happy when I got out the hose & went to hang out under the lavender. Cutie #gardening #frogs
She could sit anywhere else in the house but chose here as I'm putting on my shoes
